Vazquez fired 1.1 clean innings Wednesday against the Rockies to secure his 26th save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez needed just 20 pitches -- 13 of which were strikes -- to retire all four batters he faced en route to converting his 16th consecutive save chance. He came on with runners on the corners in the eighth inning but escaped the jam by getting Chris Iannetta to groundout to second base. Vazquez then sat down the top of the Rockies' order to secure the win for the Pirates. The 27-year-old now owns a solid 3.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 65:18 K:BB across 48 innings this season.

Vazquez allowed a two-run homer to Yonder Alonso on Wednesday, snapping a 15-game, 15.2 inning scoreless streak during which the reliever whiffed 29 batters.
EDGE Analysis
The home run was just the second Vazquez has allowed in his four-year career -- he surrendered a three-run shot to Jay Bruce in June of 2016. Although the Pirates have won 11 of 12, Vazquez has thrown just two times since July 14 because of the team's lopsided victories. He's compiled 13 saves, a 1.33 ERA and 36:7 K:BB after blowing four of five save opportunities at the end of May.

Vazquez recorded a one-out save during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, striking out the only Brewers batter he faced.
EDGE Analysis
His 23rd closure of 2018 marked his second of the day, having already slammed the door in the opener for a full inning. Vazquez hasn't allowed a run in his last 15 appearances, during which he's wrapped up 11 games. He's put to rest any struggles that arose around the turn of the calendar from May to June, though Pittsburgh's next few weeks might determine whether they'll keep trying for a postseason berth. Deciding to start an aggressive rebuild could lead them to dealing Vazquez into a spot where he'd receive fewer save opportunities.

Vazquez picked up his 22nd save of the year, tossing a scoreless ninth inning in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Brewers, allowing one hit and walking one.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez shut the door with a one-run lead, allowing a two-out single but never getting into any real trouble. He's now set a career high in saves and has a solid 3.07 ERA, with an excellent 1.97 FIP.

Vazquez threw 0.2 scoreless innings Thursday, allowing a hit while earning his 21st save in a win over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez has been nothing short of dominant the last month, riding a 13.1 scoreless inning streak with a 25:2 K:BB during that span. He blew four-of-five save chances to end the month of May but has nailed down his last 11 opportunities.

Vazquez got the save against the Phillies on Sunday, striking out the side without allowing a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to close out the Pirates' 4-1 victory.
EDGE Analysis
That's now 18 saves in 22 opportunities for the 27-year-old left-hander, who required just 15 pitches to strike out all three Phillies he faced to lock down Pittsburgh's victory. He's now got a 3.38 ERA and 1.31 WHIP through 37.1 innings, so Vazquez hasn't been quite as dominant this year as he was in his lights-out campaign of 2017, but he's still a reliable source of saves and strikeouts with a firm grasp on the closer role in Pittsburgh.

Vazquez got the save against the Padres on Friday, striking out both the batters he faced in his two-thirds of an inning to close out the Pirates' 6-3 victory.
EDGE Analysis
It was the 16th save of the season for the left-hander, who hasn't blown a save since a four-run meltdown against the Cardinals on May 31. His 3.78 ERA still isn't at the level of his ballistic 1.67 mark from last season, and it might not get there unless he rips off a prolonged scoreless streak, but Vazquez should nonetheless remain a reliable source of saves as the primary go-to ninth inning option in Pittsburgh's bullpen.

Vazquez (3-2) got the win Wednesday, tossing two shutout innings with two strikeouts and one hit allowed against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez was the benefactor of Pittsburgh's late comeback, as they rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the ninth inning to win 5-3. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a terrific month of June, working to a 1.74 ERA with 17 strikeouts versus five walks over 10.1 innings to go along with five saves and a win.

Vazquez struck out the side in a scoreless inning of work to earn his 15th save of the season Monday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez was flat out dominant in this one, throwing 11 of 15 pitches for strikes as he sat the home team down in order. Though he still carries a 4.11 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP after a rough start, the left-hander has been scored upon just once in the last eight outings, piling up 15 strikeouts during that span.

Vazquez notched his 14th save Monday, striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning against Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
He shook off a leadoff single to Christian Yelich, striking out Ryan Braun and Eric Thames en route to his third save in six days. Vazquez threw 15 of 20 pitches for strikes while featuring a fastball clocked between 95-98 mph. Monday's outing was his first since Friday, making it likely the lefty would be available again Tuesday.
