Vazquez is available out of the bullpen Wednesday, John Perrotto of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez is good to go after being rested Tuesday. The southpaw hasn't allowed an earned run through 8.2 innings this season while compiling a 14:3 K:BB over that stretch.

Vazquez will be held out of Tuesday's game against Detroit for rest purposes, Nubyjas Wilborn of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez tossed two innings during Sunday's series finale. Nick Burdi, who's pitched in three of Pittsburgh's last five matchups, will also be unavailable Tuesday for the very same reason, per Wilborn.

Vazquez hurled two scoreless innings Sunday, picking up his first win of the season. He gave up three hits and two walks, striking out three batters.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Clint Hurdle brought him into the eighth inning, with the game tied at three runs apiece. He threw 43 pitches, his highest total since July 17, 2016, when he compiled 45 pitches against the Pirates while he was with Washington. Fortunately, the team has two of the next four days off (including Monday). Expect the Pirates to likely limit his work to an inning or so until returning to PNC Park on Friday. Vazquez has recorded four saves and a win in his last five appearances. He's yet to allow a run in seven games (8.2 innings) while crafting a 14:3 K:BB.

Vazquez recorded his fourth save of the season in a 6-3 victory against the Nationals on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
It took some work, as Vazquez needed to throw 18 pitches to retire the side, but he still hasn't allowed a run this season. Vazquez also has 11 strikeouts versus one walk in 6.2 innings. It's hard to imagine the lefty getting off to a better start.

Vazquez recorded a five-out save with four strikeouts and one hit allowed in a 5-2 victory against the Cubs on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Keone Kela struggled again in his setup role, so Pirates manager Clint Hurdle turned to Vazquez to get out of trouble in the eighth. This isn't a long-term solution, but Vazquez is capable of registering multiple-inning saves on occasion. Vazquez has three saves and 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. He has yet to give up a run and owns a 0.88 WHIP as well.

Vazquez pitched his first perfect frame with two strikeouts in a save during a 2-0 victory against the Reds on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The hard-throwing lefty had allowed at least one baserunner in each of his first three appearances, so it was nice to see him dominate an inning Friday night. Vazquez may just be finding himself, but he already has seven strikeouts in four innings. He also has two saves with no runs allowed and a 1.00 WHIP this season.

Vazquez got the save against the Reds on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out three with no walks in a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 2-0 victory.
EDGE Analysis
It was the first save of the season for the lefty, who worked around one hit by punching out three batters to preserve the victory for Pittsburgh. Vazquez bagged 37 saves as the go-to closer option for the Pirates last year, and he's bounced back nicely following a shaky first appearance of the year against the Cardinals, so he should start racking up the saves again as the season progresses and he sees more opportunities.

Vazquez allowed one run on one hit with one strikeout in 1.1 innings during a loss to the Cardinals on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates turned to their closer in a tied game during the eighth with the bases loaded and two outs. Vazquez escaped that jam and the Pirates scored in the bottom of the eighth, but two defensive lapses and then a wild pitch led to the Cardinals tying the game again. While this will not go down as a blown save because Vazquez entered in a tied game, the Pirates closer has hardly been his dominate self early in 2019. He's allowed three baserunners and one run in two innings to begin the year.

Vazquez (illness) recorded one strikeout and did not allow a baserunner over one inning during Saturday's spring game against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez relieved Clay Holmes to start the fourth inning as expected and recorded a pair of groundouts in addition to the strikeout. The 27-year-old was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled appearance due to an upper-respiratory infection, but his quick return keeps him on locked in as the Pirates' closer for the start of the regular season.

Vazquez (illness) is slated to enter Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins after starter Clay Holmes departs, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vazquez will likely cover an inning after an upper-respiratory infection prevented him from making his last scheduled spring appearance Tuesday versus the Orioles. The lefty is apparently feeling healthy again after a few days off to recuperate and should be locked in as the ninth-inning man once the regular season arrives.
