Rivero gave up an unearned run on a hit and two walks in an inning of work Sunday, but struck out two and came away with his 17th save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
It's the fifth time in 15 appearances since the beginning of August that Rivero has been scored upon, and his 4.61 ERA over that stretch is a far cry from the 0.67 mark he held at the end of July. Even so, the left-hander's blown only one of nine save chances during that time, and his 18:6 K:BB in 13.2 innings during that month-plus remains just shy of elite.

Rivero allowed two earned runs on four hits while recording only two outs Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Pitching in the eighth inning of a 12-run deficit, Rivero gave up a run-scoring single to the left-handed hitting Jon Jay. The hit marked just the sixth time in 83 plate appearances that a lefty got a hit off Rivero in 2017. Pittsburgh's closer came away with seven saves (in eight opportunities) in August, but his peripherals for the month slipped (5.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) as his early-season usage appears to be catching up with him.

Rivero allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 16th save of the season during Sunday's 5-2 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Rivero's 16th save of the season didn't come easily, as the Reds had the bases loaded with two outs following a base hit, error and walk. Despite the strife, the hard-tossing lefty was able to get Adam Duvall to ground out to short for the game's final out. Rivero has now converted seven straight save opportunities and has cemented himself as one of the league's elite ninth-inning arms.

Rivero struck out the side in one inning of work to earn his 15th save Saturday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Rivero was protecting a 1-0 lead, and he left nothing to chance as he didn't allow a single ball to be put in play. He's been an outstanding option at closer over the last two months, as he's earned 12 saves, and he also has an elite 1.27 ERA for the season.

Rivero gave up one hit and one walk before blanking the Cardinals in a scoreless ninth inning Sunday, recording his 13th save.
EDGE Analysis
After pitching otherworldly for the first four months of 2017, Rivero has allowed five earned runs in eight innings in August. While he's lost his pinpoint control at times and his velocity has dipped a bit, that's likely due to pitching in a team-high 59 games. His availability for Monday's game is unknown. He threw 30 pitches over the weekend but could make a third appearance in as many days, especially given the Pirates' flagging postseason hopes.

Rivero allowed one run on one hit while striking out one across one inning to earn his 13th save Saturday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Rivero was protecting a three-run lead, so the run that he allowed was meaningless as he converted his 13th save. With just one blown save along with a 1.34 ERA, and he's been an excellent fantasy option since the middle of June.

Rivero pitched a scoreless inning on one hit while striking out one to earn his 12th save Friday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Rivero was protecting a two-run lead and was able to convert the save after throwing strikes on 11 of 12 pitches. In two months as the Pirates' closer, he's been a great fantasy asset, as he's closed out 12 of 13 chances while posting an excellent 1.21 ERA along with a 0.78 WHIP.

Rivero recorded the final two outs of Thursday's game against the Tigers to earn his 11th save of the season. He allowed one hit and struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Rivero allowed a couple inherited runners to score on a double and a groundout, but he ultimately nailed down the win for Pittsburgh, and is now 11-for-12 in save opportunities. The 26-year-old lefty has been virtually untouchable against same-handed batters this year, holding southpaws to a .074/.149/.088 line.

Rivero recorded one strikeout in a clean inning of work to notch his 10th save of the season Tuesday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Rivero threw eight of his 12 pitches while retiring the side in order. This dominant showing was a welcome sight for the left-hander, who had allowed four runs in his last three innings and blew his first save of the season on Sunday. Rivero should be over this bumpy patch in short order and looks to be on his way to posting strong numbers down the stretch.

Rivero blew his first save of the season Sunday against the Padres, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks during an inning of work. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Rivero recorded the final out of the eighth inning, but he loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth before allowing a two-run single to tie the game. With the save blown and the left-hander at 41 pitches, Joaquin Benoit was called upon to finish out the ninth before the Pirates went on to win in extra innings. Rivero still owns a strong 1.27 ERA to go along with a microscopic 0.78 WHIP and should rebound from this bumpy outing in short order.
