Tampa Bay traded Pereira (back) and Tanner Murray to the White Sox on Tuesday in exchange for Steven Wilson and Yoendrys Gomez, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tampa Bay acquired Pereira in a trade with the Yankees in late July. He ended up playing 23 games with the Rays, struggling to a .138/.219/.246 slash line with two homers, eight RBI, two stolen bases and a 38.4 percent strikeout rate over 73 plate appearances before ending the season on the IL due to back inflammation. Pereira will now get a fresh start in Chicago, though to find big-league success and regular playing time, he'll likely need to make contact more consistently.

The Rays placed Pereira on the 10-day injured list Friday due to low back inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Pereira wouldn't return in 2025, and Friday's move makes that official. The 24-year-old appeared in 23 games with the Rays this season, slashing .138/.219/.246 with a pair of home runs, two stolen bases and a 38.4 percent K rate. Jonathan Aranda (wrist) returned from the IL in a corresponding move.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Pereira (back) is unlikely to return this season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pereira was forced to exit Thursday's game in Baltimore in the fourth inning with low-back tightness. While it does not seem to be a long-term injury, it will nonetheless prematurely end the outfielder's season. Pereira slashed .138/.219/.246 with two home runs in 23 games for the Rays in 2025.

Pereira was removed from Thursday's game against the Orioles in the fourth inning with low-back tightness, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pereira grounded out in the top of the fourth inning in his second plate appearance before being lifted for defense in the bottom of the frame. It's likely a day-to-day injury, but the Rays could provide more clarity soon regarding Pereira's availability for the weekend.

Pereira went 1-for-5 with a grand slam Friday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays rolled out a unique lineup with lefty Garrett Crochet on the mound, with Pereira hitting leadoff for the first time this season. He struck out in three of his first four plate appearances, but he smacked the first grand slam and second homer of his career in the ninth inning. Pereira is being used sparingly, starting only six games in September.

Pereira went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 4-1 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old outfielder took Mitchell Parker deep in the fifth inning, giving Pereira his first career big-league homer in his 39th game. He's been seeing consistent playing time since being called up Aug. 11, but over 41 plate appearances for the Rays he's batting just .139 (5-for-36) with a 41.5 percent strikeout rate.

Pereira is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
After going 1-for-9 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored while starting each of the last three games in center field, Pereira will be the odd man out of the Tampa Bay outfield while Josh Lowe (oblique) makes his return to action. While he likely won't be in line for regular playing time against righties with Lowe back in the fold, Pereira could spell Lowe, Jake Mangum or Chandler Simpson in the outfield when the Rays oppose lefties.

Pereira went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base Tuesday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Pereira was recalled by the Rays Aug. 11 and made his third consecutive start Tuesday with Josh Lowe (oblique) sidelined. He has only three hits across 19 at-bats since his promotion, but he could be a decent source of steals if he continues to find playing time.

The Rays recalled Pereira from Triple-A Durham on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired from the Yankees at the deadline in a trade that sent Jose Caballero to New York, Pereira has slashed .256/.359/.508 with 21 home runs, nine stolen bases and a 29.2 percent strikeout rate at the Triple-A level in 2025. The right-handed hitter should at least see starts against left-handed pitching, and he could earn reps versus righties, too.

Pereira was traded from the Yankees to the Rays on Thursday in exchange for Jose Caballero, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Given that there seemed to be no path for Pereira to get another shot in New York, this is a good development for his dynasty value. He is still just 24 and is slashing .254/.357/.507 with 19 home runs, nine steals and a 28.7 percent strikeout rate in 70 games at Triple-A.
