Scribner struggled on Friday, allowing three earned runs over his two innings. Scribner continued to struggle with home runs, allowing two-run shots to Nelson Cruz and Brad Miller. He has now allowed nine homers in only 42 innings. After a great start to the season that saw his ERA sitting at 2.20 through May, Scribner has now allowed 10 earned runs in his last 13.1 innings. He was once thought to be the next in line to close if Tyler Clippard is dealt, but now one would think he would be part of a committee at best with his current form.

Scribner took the loss after giving up two runs on two hits and recorded just one out after entering the game in the eighth inning Friday night. A pair of solo homers from Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun put the Angels on top, snatching a win away from A's starter Jesse Chavez in the process. Overall, Scribner has been one of the best arms in an otherwise disappointing Oakland bullpen, having posted a 37:3 K:BB, 3.21 ERA and 0.98 WHIP over 33.2 innings this season.

Scribner pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday night, striking out the side. Scribner has pitched very well to start the season, allowing only two runs in 12.1 innings, good for a 1.46 ERA. His K/BB ratio so far this season stands at a spectacular 14/1. His good work has caught the eye of the A's coaches and Scribner has recently been working in higher leverage situation and is currently the primary right-handed setup man in front of closer Tyler Clippard.

Scribner was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday. Scriber will return for his fourth stint with the major league team this season, replacing Drew Pomeranz on the active roster, and he should remain with the big club the rest of the way. In 40 appearances with Sacramento this season, Scribner posted a 3.06 ERA and 1.02 WHIP, while holding opponents to a .158 average in 11 post All-Star break appearances. He also fanned 72 in 47 innings, so it's entirely possible he could work himself into the setup mix eventually.
