Eric Chavez (foot) said he felt fine after running from home to first base approximately six times Thursday.
It doesn't sound like much, but this is a big step forward in his recovery from a fractured left foot. Chavez is already taking batting practice and fielding, so he just needs to feel comfortable running before being cleared for a minor legue rehab assignment.

Eric Chavez (foot) took batting practice on the field Monday for the first time since going on the disabled list in early May.
Chavez also continued fielding grounders at the Yankees' spring training complex in Florida. While he is running regularly on a treadmill, he has yet to test his fractured left foot on flat ground. Thus, it's unlikely he'll rejoin the Yankees before the end of the month.

Eric Chavez (foot) was able to take groundballs as well as hit in the batting cage on Saturday.
Chavez could take batting practice on the field within the next few days. The oft-injured veteran was batting .303 with a .410 on-base percentage over his first 39 plate appearances prior to breaking a bone in his left foot in early May. His current timetable calls for a late-June return.
