Quero will serve as the White Sox's starting catcher to begin the regular season with Kyle Teel (hamstring) sidelined, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Quero was originally slated to back up Teel behind the plate while also drawing some at-bats as DH. However, he should now see more consistent playing time at catcher for the first few weeks of the season. If Quero performs well in that span, he could force a more even playing-time split than originally anticipated once Teel returns.

Quero is likely to get the majority of his starts at catcher against left-handed pitching, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While manager Will Venable stopped short of calling the White Sox's catcher situation a straight platoon, he did acknowledge that Kyle Teel will start behind the plate against most right-handed pitching. That leaves Quero on the short end of playing time, though he's also likely to get at least some plate appearances at DH. While the playing time situation is a bit murky, Queto has picked up nine hits across his first 17 at-bats -- three of which have gone for extra bases -- early in Cactus League action, after working at Driveline to improve his swing this winter.

Quero visited Driveline Baseball last week with a goal of increasing his bat speed and improving his launch angle, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Quero had a healthy 46.3 percent hard-hit rate and 90.4 mph average exit velocity during his rookie season, but his bat speed ranked in the fourth percentile and his average launch angle ranked in the 7th percentile. An assessment determined Quero was lacking lower-body strength, so he was given drills to help increase his explosiveness and add more bat speed. He also had a pull-air rate of just 7.8 percent last season, and the instructors at Driveline worked with him on catching the ball in front of the plate in order to pull the ball with authority. Quero had a solid .268/.333/.356 batting line in his rookie season and sported a 17.9 percent strikeout rate, but he swatted just five home runs. If the young switch hitter is able to boost his power while maintaining his quality eye at the dish, he could break through. Quero is set to share catching duties with Kyle Teel in 2026 and is also expected to see ample starts at designated hitter for the White Sox.

Quero went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Thursday's 11-8 win over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Quero batted leadoff for the first time in his career -- over 93 games this season, he's been in every spot in the order. He's most frequently featured third, fourth or sixth in the lineup, but he's been hitting well lately, going 23-for-65 (.354) over his last 20 games. The switch hitter is up to a .289/.351/.395 slash line with five home runs, 36 RBI, 28 runs scored, 17 doubles and no stolen bases across 333 plate appearances. Quero hasn't provided much power and has lackluster speed -- ranking in the fifth percentile with a 25 feet per second sprint speed, per Statcast -- so he doesn't seem like a logical fit for the leadoff spot in the long run despite a promising showing at getting on base.

Quero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 4-3 win over the Twins on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Quero left the yard for the fifth time this season, and it was his first homer since Aug. 12 versus Detroit. The switch-hitting backstop has a decent .737 OPS during his rookie year, and he's fared even better over his last 18 games. During that span, Quero is batting a torrid .351 with two big flies, two doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored across his last 57 at-bats.

Quero went 2-for-4 with three RBI on Sunday against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Quero has started every other game across the last 10 days, forming an impressive duo with Kyle Teel behind the plate. The sporadic playing time makes it difficult to count on Quero for fantasy production, but he has delivered when in the lineup. In 14 games during August, he has gone 15-for-49 with one homer, eight RBI and four runs scored.

Quero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Quero and Kyle Teel had both received steady playing time between the catcher and designated-hitter spots last week, but Quero's opportunities have begun to tail off. He'll be on the bench for the second time in the series and the third time in five games while Teel starts behind the plate and Mike Tauchman serves as Chicago's DH.
