Dustin Ackley will bat leadoff Wednesday night against the Tigers. We probably shouldn't get used to it, as Ackley is only getting the nod because Chone Figgins has the night off. The 24-year-old should slide back into his customary No. 2 spot on Thursday.

Dustin Ackley is making his first career start at first base Wednesday night against the Indians. Munenori Kawasaki is playing second base. Ackley, 24, is batting .239/.286/.348 with one home run, one steal and four RBI in 49 plate appearances this season. We wouldn't expect the first base thing to become common.

Ackley clubbed a solo homer to right-center in the fourth inning and plated Brendan Ryan with the go-ahead run on an RBI single in the 11th. The 24-year-old second baseman probably won't stand out in any one category this season, but he should have some value in standard mixed leagues.

Dustin Ackley went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to the Athletics. Ackley has busted out of that ugly August slump. Over his last seven games, the talented rookie is 11-of-25 with two homers and six RBI. He's a major bright spot for the 58-81 Mariners.

Ackley has struggled in August after terrific months of June and July, but he has batted .325 over his last nine contests to push his average back up to .291 for the season.

Now just 8-for-42 (.190) over his past 12 games, Ackley is mired in the first prolonged slump of his major-league career. It was bound to happen, but it will be interesting to see how long it takes the sensational rookie, who is still batting .286/.370/.481 for the year, to snap out of it.

Ackley is now sporting a .929 OPS through his first 37 major-league games, and would likely be the favorite for the American League's Rookie of the Year award if he had more plate appearances under his belt. He's beginning to look like an elite keeper option at second base.

Dustin Ackley homered, doubled and drove in three runs in Seattle's 11-6 loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Ackley's fourth home run was his first in 11 games. Even with the Mariners offense going totally dark this month, Ackley has put up decent numbers, batting .272 with six extra-base hits and six RBI through his first 55 July at-bats. He should be worth holding onto in all formats going forward.

Batting third for the first time, Dustin Ackley went 1-for-4 with a run scored Friday against the Angels. The Mariners moved Ackley up and dropped Justin Smoak to fifth, which would be bad news for the first baseman's value if it sticks. The Mariners have Miguel Olivo in the cleanup spot and all he ever does is homer or make outs, so the No. 5 hitter doesn't get many RBI chances in Seattle. Ackley, though, is looking better and better as a fantasy property with the move up.
