Dustin Ackley launched a two-run homer off Trevor Bauer in a losing effort against the Indians on Sunday. Ackley, who got the start in center field, went 2-for-3 on the day. He maintains second base eligibility in most fantasy formats, and with his likelihood of securing a starting spot in the M's outfield makes for a savvy play as a middle infielder in the mid-to-late rounds of mixed league drafts.

Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Friday that he sees Dustin Ackley as a left fielder rather than a center fielder. Ackley played mostly center down the stretch last season, and most figured that's where he'd wind up this year. However, it appears they feel more comfortable with him in left and Michael Saunders in center. Seattle plans to use Corey Hart in right field.

In the aftermath of the Robinson Cano signing, Dustin Ackley will focus entirely on working in the outfield during spring training. Ackley split time between second base and the outfield last season, even appearing at first base six times. But with Cano holding down the keystone, the 25-year-old will be a full-time outfielder going forward. Ackley is likely to open the season as the Mariners' starting center fielder.

The Yankees and Mariners made no traction on a potential Dustin Ackley trade, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. Ackley owns an underwhelming .245/.315/.354 batting line over his first three seasons in the majors, but still retains some top prospect sheen. A change of scenery to get him out of Safeco Field might help, but Ackley apparently won't be relocating to the Big Apple. Still just 25-years-old, Ackley has shown that he can handle both second base and center field.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees, Mets and Padres have asked the Mariners about the availability of Dustin Ackley. No word on whether the Mariners actually plan to move him. Ackley owns an underwhelming .245/.315/.354 batting line over his first three seasons in the majors, but he was highly-regarded for his hitting ability coming out of college and doesn't turn 26 until January. The Mariners used him as an outfielder during the second half of the season, but there's a chance he could be moved back to second base if he is traded elsewhere.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mariners are receiving a lot of trade interest in Dustin Ackley. The former top prospect struggled in the early part of 2013, but was a different player after returning from the minor leagues, slashing .285/.354/.404 with three homers and 23 RBI in his final 68 games. Still just 25-years-old, his potential and versatility make him a very attractive trade chip.

Dustin Ackley launched a three-run home run Thursday against the Tigers. The fifth-inning blast gave the Mariners the lead, but the bullpen was unable to hold it. Ackley was on a bit of a hot streak after returning from the minors, but this was just his third extra-base hit (and first home run) since August 28.

Dustin Ackley's hot hitting continued Friday against the Astros, as he finished 4-for-5 with four RBI. Ackley had three singles and a triple. The four hits established a new career-high while the four RBI matched his career best. The 25-year-old is now hitting .411 this month and has pulled his batting average up from .215 to .261 in the process. With his multi-position eligibility, he could be a useful option down the stretch in deeper mixed leagues.

Dustin Ackley had another nice game Tuesday, finishing 3-for-3 with a walk against the Rangers. Ackley has eight hits in four games, raising his average from .236 to .253. It's also pushed his on-base percentage over .300 for the first time all season. More power would be nice, but it's something to build on.
