Gagnon was released by the Mets on Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gagnon was designated for assignment Wednesday and will become a free agent rather than return to the Mets' minor-league system. The 29-year-old owns a career 7.32 ERA in 35.2 major-league innings.

Gagnon was designated for assignment Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets needed to protect several players from the Rule 5 draft, and Gagnon was a roster casualty. The 29-year-old righty had a 8.37 ERA in 23.2 innings last season.

Gagnon was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gagnon has struggled mightily with the big club this season, posting an 8.74 ERA and 1.72 WHIP in 17 appearances, but he's been much better at Triple-A (2.33 ERA, 1.08 WHIP). The right-hander will provide depth to the bullpen over the final three-plus weeks of the regular season.

Gagnon was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old returns to the minors after giving up five earned runs off six hits in 1.2 innings pitched Thursday against the Braves. Paul Sewald was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse and Tim Peterson was designated for assignment in corresponding moves.

Gagnon was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander returns to the Mets' bullpen after being optioned to Triple-A in mid-June. Since that time, Gagnon recorded an ERA of 2.70 with a 47:10 K:BB over 53.1 innings for Syracuse. His major-league numbers are less impressive, as he carries an ERA of 7.65 and a 1.65 WHIP in 15 appearances with the Mets this year, and he holds little fantasy value as a middle reliever.

Gagnon was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gagnon allowed eight runs in his last three innings of work, bringing his ERA up to 7.65 on the season. Daniel Zamora and Stephen Nogosek were added to the bullpen to replace Gagnon and Jeurys Familia (shoulder), who landed on the injured list.

Gagnon may be used in a save opportunity Friday with closer Edwin Diaz potentially unavailable, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz has pitched three of he last four days, so it appears as though he'll be a last-resort option for the Mets in the series opener. Gagnon has a 3.21 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB across 14 innings this season -- though all five runs allowed came in mop-up duty during his first outing of the year -- and appears to be working his way towards more high-leverage opportunities.

Gagnon (3-0) pitched a perfect eighth inning Wednesday to record the win as the Mets came back to beat the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
As per usual, the right-hander attacked the strike zone and let his defense do the rest -- he threw seven pitches, all strikes, to retire Howie Kendrick, Trea Turner and Adam Eaton without giving up any hard contact. All three of Gagnon's victories have come during a seven-appearance scoreless streak, during which he's compiled a 6:1 K:BB in 8.2 innings and lowered his ERA on the year to 3.21. He'll likely stay in a fairly low-leverage role, but if the Mets keep making a habit of rallying late, wins could keep falling into Gagnon's lap.

Gagnon (2-0) picked up the win in Monday's victory over the Nationals, walking one and striking out two over two scoreless innings of relief.
EDGE Analysis
Entering the game in the fifth inning with the Mets up 4-2, Gagnon attacked the strike zone, throwing 23 of 32 pitches for strikes. The 28-year-old right-hander hasn't allowed a run in 7.2 innings over six appearances since returning to the majors in late April, posting a 6:1 K:BB over that stretch, and while he's not seeing particularly high-leverage usage, the team's struggle to find an effective fifth starter should continue to afford Gagnon regular work in long relief.

Updating a previous report, Gagnon won't make a spot start Monday against the Nationals, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.
EDGE Analysis
Word surfaced earlier in the day that Gagnon was likely to join the rotation temporarily as a fifth starter, but manager Mickey Callaway apparently had a change of heart. Instead, Wilmer Font will make his third start with the Mets while Gagnon presumably remains on hand in a long-relief role.
