Leyba was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old is in line for his big-league debut. His .289/.343/.515 slash line for Reno translates to a not particularly impressive 106 wRC+ when considering the high-offense atmosphere of the Pacific Coast League. He projects as a future utility infielder and appears to be in line to fill that role during his time with the Diamondbacks. Kevin Cron was optioned in a corresponding move.

Leyba was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Leyba hit .269/.344/.381 for Double-A Jackson last season. As a member of the 40-man roster, he'll now be one step away should the Diamondbacks need help in the middle infield.

Leyba (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day disabled list at Double-A Jackson earlier this month and has gone 13-for-37 (.351 average) with three stolen bases in eight games.
EDGE Analysis
Leyba didn't make his season debut until May 19 while he continued to work his way back from right shoulder surgery, which he required last July. The procedure interrupted what had been a quality 17-game showing for Leyba at Double-A in 2017, but the switch-hitting shortstop has seemingly picked up where he left off upon returning to action this season. The 22-year-old probably lacks the power production necessary to earn a full-time role in the majors down the road, but his capable glove and strong contact skills could make him an ideal utility man.

Leyba (shoulder) was optioned to Double-A Jackson on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Leyba is still recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent in July and wasn't expected to appear in any Cactus League games, so he'll report to minor-league camp to continue his rehab. The 22-year-old owns a .294/.366/.439 slash line across 61 games at the Double-A level over the past two seasons. He's hoping to return sometime in May.

Leyba (shoulder) won't be playing in any Cactus League games and is unlikely to return until May, Zach reports.
EDGE Analysis
Leyba went down early in April with a shoulder injury. He made a brief return before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in July. The 22-year-old middle infielder owns a .294/.366/.439 slash line in 61 games at the Double-A level and profiles as a future utility infielder.

Leyba was placed on the minor-league disabled list after undergoing shoulder surgery earlier in the month, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Leyba was forced to miss a couple of months earlier in the season with a small tear in his right shoulder, though it's unclear if his current ailment is related. He was slashing .276/.344/.448 with two home runs and nine RBI in 17 games at Double-A before injuring himself again, and while he doesn't have a timetable for return, it's possible he won't return to action until next season.

Leyba (shoulder) is back in action with short-season Hillsboro, hitting .353 with one home run through 17 at-bats.
EDGE Analysis
This stint with Hillsboro essentially amounts to a rehab assignment, as he will soon be assigned to Double-A once he gets a week or two of game action under his belt. Leyba, 21, has posted semi-intriguing numbers in the minors, but likely profiles best as a utility infielder long term.

Leyba could miss up to two months with a right shoulder injury, the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports.
EDGE Analysis
In perhaps the weakest farm system in baseball, Leyba is a notable prospect, as he will likely reach the majors and has an outside chance of sticking in the middle infield, with a more likely role as a reserve infielder. However, he won't offer much value with his bat, so he is not worth monitoring in the majority of dynasty leagues. Look for him to open the year at Double-A when he gets healthy.

Leyba was optioned to Double-A Jackson on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Leyba is one of Arizona's top five prospects, but at just 21 years old, he's not quite ready for the show just yet. He has only 44 games under his belt above the Class A level, but Leyba posted a sharp .810 OPS in his first crack at Double-A. That's an impressive line against advanced pitching for anybody, but especially a shortstop. Leyba looks like the shortstop of the future in Arizona, even if he might still be a couple years away from the show.
