Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Pirates will not offer Dmitri Young a contract.
The slimmed-down Young worked out for the Pirates on Monday and while Biertempfel notes that they were impressed, it wasn't enough for them to offer him a spring training invite. The 38-year-old also recently worked out for the Phillies in hopes of making a comeback with an MLB team, but he's running out of time to find a home before spring training.

According to Tom Singer of MLB.com, Dmitri Young worked out for the Pirates on Monday at the team's spring training complex in Bradenton, Florida.
Young fielded balls at first base in the outfield, ran the bases and hit from both sides of the plate. Singer hears that Pirates' manager Clint Hurdle "saw enough to remain curious," so it's possible he could come to camp as a spring training invite. Young, now 38, hasn't played in the big leagues since 2008, but has slimmed down significantly in hopes of making a comeback in MLB.

According to Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM, Dmitri Young will work out for the Pirates next week at the team's spring training complex in Bradenton, Florida.
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle will be present for the workout. Young, now 38, has slimmed down significantly in hopes of receiving a spring training invite somewhere, but he hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2008. He worked out for the Phillies late last month, so perhaps he'll get his chance.

Jim Bowden of ESPN and MLB Network Radio reports that Dmitri Young worked out for the Phillies.
It's not clear whether the Phillies are actually interested in signing Young or whether they were simply doing him a favor. The 38-year-old has dropped 38 pounds, but he hasn't appeared in a major league game since the 2008 season. He could struggle to find a spring training invite.

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said the team will consider taking a flier on Dmitri Young.
Young, 38, has lost a lot of weight and is looking to return to MLB after a few years away from the game. It would only require a minor league deal for Young, who is a career .292/.351/.475 hitter, so there are worse low-risk gambles you could take.

Dmitri Young has reportedly lost 70 pounds and is looking to return to Major League Baseball.
Young showed up at the Winter Meetings in great shape and is hoping to latch on with an MLB club. If teams in the states don't want to give him a shot, he's prepared to play in Japan. Young, 38, has had legal problems and motivational issues in the past, but he's also a career .292/.351/.475 hitter, so we can't rule out someone giving him a minor league deal.
