Lamet (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing five runs on seven hits without walking a batter over just three innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Lamet was activated off the IL to make his first start since 2021 and did not fare well. The 30-year-old gave up three runs on four hits in the opening frame and then surrendered another two runs in the second before tossing a scoreless third. He was pulled after three at 71 pitches after reaching 63 pitches during the final start of his rehab assignment. Assuming manager Bud Black keeps him in the rotation, Lamet will line up to take the mound next week in a home matchup against the Giants.

Colorado reinstated Lamet (back) off the 15-day injured list to start against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Lamet ended up missing close to a month after being placed on the 15-day injured list May 4 with stiffness in his lower back. The right-hander was operating out of the bullpen at the time, but he was stretched out during his minor-league rehab assignment and will now get a chance to give the Rockies' rotation an added boost. Lamet showed flashes of brilliance as a starter when he was a member of the Padres, but he's struggled to be able to stick on the mound with a litany of injuries from 2017 through 2021. He's an intriguing speculative add, and one that makes more sense to have in a fantasy lineup when he's not pitching in the unfriendly confines of Coors Field. One of those opportunities for Lamet comes Wednesday in his outing against Arizona.

The Rockies are expected to reinstate Lamet (back) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday and have him start that night in Arizona, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After making the third start of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Lamet returned to Colorado on Sunday and was spotted throwing on the field. The right-hander stretched out to 63 pitches in his final start with Albuquerque and looks poised to provide aid to a Colorado rotation that has been plagued by injury and poor performance throughout the season. Though Lamet has largely operated as a reliever in the majors for the past two and a half seasons, he delivered a 3.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21.4 K-BB% across 56 starts with San Diego from 2017 through 2021. The 30-year-old right-hander could make for an interesting speculative pickup in deeper leagues, especially after he dazzled over his three-start rehab assignment (0.84 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB in 10.2 innings).

Lamet (back) struck out six over 4.2 scoreless innings in his rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. He gave up just two hits and one walk.
EDGE Analysis
Making the third start of his rehab assignment with Albuquerque, Lamet delivered an impressive follow-up effort after he tossed four perfect innings his last time out May 20. Just as he did in his prior two starts, Lamet did well to pound the zone, permitting just one free pass on the night while spotting 42 of his 63 pitches for strikes. The Rockies haven't decided whether Lamet will need one more rehab start to build his pitch count or if he'll be ready to return from the 15-day injured list for his next outing, but the right-hander at least looks like he'll get an extended trial in the big-league rotation. Since the second half of the 2021 season, Lamet has worked exclusively as a reliever in the big leagues, but he turned in a 3.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21.4 K-BB% across 56 starts with San Diego from 2017 through 2021.

Manager Bud Black said Thursday that Lamet (back) will make another rehab start Friday with Triple-A Albuquerque, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lamet is being stretched out for a possible rotation role with the Rockies as he nears the end of his recovery from a back injury. He's looked sharp in his two rehab starts so far with Albuquerque, tallying five strikeouts with no walks over six innings of one-run ball.

Lamet (back) could be used as a starter when he returns from the injured list, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lamet hasn't started a major-league game since 2021 and hasn't been a full-time starter since 2020. He seems ill-suited for the role at this point, but the Rockies' rotation has been hit hard by injuries so it appears they might be willing to give it a shot. Lamet has made two rehab starts with Triple-A Albuquerque but figures to require multiple more to get stretched out if Colorado does indeed bring him back as a starter.

Lamet (back) will report to Triple-A Albuquerque to begin an injury rehab assignment Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lamet was able to participate in a live bullpen session Saturday, and now the right-hander will get a chance to face competition in the Pacific Coast League for the Isotopes beginning Tuesday. He'll likely work in a handful of games and then have a chance to return to the majors as soon as next weekend in a mid-to-late innings relief role.

Lamet (back) participated in a live bullpen session Saturday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters after the session that he looked healthy with a focus on improving his delivery and confidence when he returns. Lamet has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but he has a chance to return to the Colorado bullpen in the mid-to-late innings near the end of May.

Lamet was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with lower back stiffness.
EDGE Analysis
Lamet has been hammered for 16 runs -- 15 earned -- on 14 hits and 12 walks through 10.2 innings of relief this season with the Rockies. That works out to a 12.66 ERA and 2.44 WHIP. He will probably do a minor-league rehab assignment before returning to try to get into a better groove.

Lamet struck out two and allowed two hits in a scoreless seventh inning Thursday and was not used in Friday's save situation against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Pierce Johnson got the ball in the ninth inning Friday and successfully protected a 4-1 lead, allowing one hit while striking out two. It's unclear whether Lamet would have figured into the eighth or ninth inning if he hadn't already pitched Thursday. Regardless, for now, Johnson looks like the top Rockies reliever to roster with Daniel Bard on the 15-day injured list due to anxiety.
