The Orioles re-signed Enns to a one-year contract with a club option for 2027 on Monday.

Baltimore had a $3 million club option on Enns for 2026, but instead of picking that up it has hammered out a new deal with the left-hander. Enns was acquired by the Orioles via trade in late July and pitched well for them down the stretch, holding a 3.14 ERA and 34:11 K:BB over 28.2 frames. The southpaw will likely open 2026 in the bullpen, though he also offers the flexibility to be used as a starting pitcher.

The 34-year-old southpaw has posted a 3.97 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 11.1 innings with the O's, and although he's pitched as many as five innings in an appearance this season, he'll likely only remain in Wednesday's game for a frame or two before handing the game over to bulk reliever Roansy Contreras.

Enns earned the save in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Mariners, allowing a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning.

Enns' first save since 2021 didn't come easy -- after giving up back-to-back singles to open the frame, the left-hander managed to hold Seattle to just one run to close out the Orioles' victory. Enns has pitched well overall since joining Baltimore at the trade deadline, allowing two runs while striking out 12 over 6.1 innings to put his name in the late-inning mix.

Enns was traded from the Tigers to the Rays in exchange for cash considerations Thursday.

Enns was designated for assignment earlier in the day after the Tigers acquired Codi Heuer. However, he now looks likely to immediately contribute to the big-league bullpen, and he's maintained a 5.60 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 17.2 innings in the majors this season.

Hinch announced a few days later that the lefty would shift to the bullpen, and Wednesday's appearance was his first in that role. Enns worked exclusively as a starter for the Tigers and Triple-A Toledo prior to Wednesday, so he should at least be able to give the team some length as a reliever, and he was effective in his first stint.

Enns limited the Athletics to one hit over five shutout innings in his first start with the Tigers on June 26, but he ended up losing his spot in the rotation after he was blown up for eight runs (seven earned) over four innings in his second start Thursday in Washington. Hinch has yet to announce a replacement in the rotation for Enns, but Keider Montero is expected to be called up from Triple-A Toledo on Monday and will either start or serve as a bulk reliever in Detroit's series opener versus the Rays, per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. Enns will be available in relief Monday, but the Tigers aren't heading into the game with the plan of having him cover multiple innings.
