Castillo (1-0) got the win during Saturday's 13-7 victory over the Royals, throwing a 1-2-3 eighth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo entered a tie game in the eighth and required a surprising 20 pitches to get the three outs despite not allowing a baserunner and fell in line for the victory when Seattle posted a six spot on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning. The 28-year-old isn't operating in the closer role he's had in the past but is still producing with a 2.57 ERA and seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Castillo fired a scoreless ninth inning in a win over the Astros on Sunday, allowing a hit and recording a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander posted his third scoreless appearance over four trips to the mound this season, with manager Scott Servais giving him some work after Castillo had been idle since Thursday. The 28-year-old has been victimized by a dearth of save opportunities thus far, but he's at least been sharp right from the beginning of the season and should eventually see the ninth-inning opportunities start to come.

Castillo earned his first save of the season, striking out two in one inning of work in a 4-3 win Saturday in Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo pitched a perfect ninth as the Mariners came back to win against the Twins. Drew Streckenrider was given the save opportunity in the season opener but Castillo was called upon to close out Saturday's game. The 28-year-old primarily served as a setup man after being traded to Seattle in mid-2021 and is in the mix to receive save chances. Time will tell who manager Scott Servais will rely on most in save situations.

Castillo and the Mariners agreed Tuesday on a one-year contract to avoid arbitration.
EDGE Analysis
All of Castillo, Drew Steckenrider and Paul Sewald came to terms on deals to avoid arbitration, leaving the three primary candidates for saves out of the Seattle bullpen on the books for 2022. While splitting time between Tampa Bay and Seattle last season, Castillo delivered a 2.78 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 75:17 K:BB in 58.1 innings while converting 16 of 22 save chances.

The Mariners will use a handful of relievers to close out games again this season, Jesse Borek of MLB.com reports. "We'll have a number of guys who will finish off games for us," manager Scott Servais said.
EDGE Analysis
Many expected Castillo to pick up more saves upon getting traded to the Mariners last summer, but the opposite occurred, as he converted only two save chances with his new team. Castillo still has good reliever skills, but he's competing with Paul Sewald, Drew Steckenrider and Ken Giles (elbow) for those precious save chances.

Castillo (5-5) got the win over the Athletics on Wednesday but allowed one run on one hit while striking out two over an inning.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo entered to pitch the top of the seventh with the Mariners clinging on to a 2-1 lead. He retired the first two batters he faced but then missed his location on a slider to Seth Brown, who connected on the pitch and sent it over the wall in right to tie the game. Fortunately, the Mariners were able to manufacture a run in the bottom half of the frame and held on until the end to award Castillo the win. The flame-throwing 27-year-old now has three wins, six holds and a save in 13 appearances this month and has settled in nicely in a setup role in front of Paul Sewald and Drew Steckenrider. Castillo has been very solid again this year, as he has a 2.81 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 73:17 K:BB over 57.2 innings.

Castillo, who secured his 10th hold against the Athletics on Thursday with a scoreless eighth inning during which he allowed a walk and a strikeout, has three holds overall in the last four games.
EDGE Analysis
The big right-hander is just 2-for-5 in save opportunities since joining the Mariners at the trade deadline, and with more reliable ninth-inning options on hand for manager Scott Servais, Castillo has primarily transitioned back into the seventh- and eighth-inning role he often filled during his time with the Rays. The return to a healthy dose of set-up work has mostly agreed with Castillo, who's posted a 2-0 record, 1.93 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 11:2 K:BB and five holds over 9.1 innings in September.

Castillo (4-5) recorded the win in a victory over the Red Sox on Monday, firing a perfect seventh inning during which he recorded two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The big right-hander was stellar after Logan Gilbert's six strong frames to open the contest. Castillo has been impressive since returning from a stay on the injured list due to a shoulder issue, as he's now posted scoreless efforts in four of the last five appearances while recording a pair of victories during that span.

Castillo (3-5) earned the win Wednesday over Houston. He allowed one hit and struck out three in a scoreless inning.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo did his part to keep the game tied at 4-4 in the eighth inning, and Seattle rallied for the lead in the ninth to make him a winner. The right-hander has logged three scoreless innings since he returned from right shoulder inflammation. Castillo owns a 2.77 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 62:15 K:BB through 48.2 innings this year. He's likely to continue to be in Seattle's closer committee with Paul Sewald and Drew Steckenrider.

Castillo picked up the save against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he gave up one hit and didn't walk or strike out any batters.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was activated from the injured list earlier in the day and was thrown right into the fire with Seattle leading by three runs in the ninth inning. Castillo yielded a single to open his outing but then induced a foul out and a double play to close the contest. Though he was given the save chance Saturday, Castillo will likely share ninth-inning duties with Paul Sewald and Drew Steckenrider moving forward. Both relievers performed well in Castillo's recent absence, notching two saves apiece.
