Marrero was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero started just one game during his stint on the big-league roster, and he went hitless in three at-bats. He'll now be removed from the 40-man roster once again to make room for Luis Marte, whose contract was selected in a corresponding move.

Marrero's contract was selected by the Marlins on Wednesday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero signed a minor-league deal with the Marlins in mid-May, and he'll join the major-league club after spending just over a month with Triple-A Jacksonville. He should serve mainly in a depth role while Jose Devers (shoulder) and Miguel Rojas (finger) are sidelined, but the 30-year-old is starting at third base and batting eighth Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Marrero signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Saturday and was assigned to Triple-A Jacksonville, MiLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero was believed to have signed a contract with the Mexican League's Guadalajara Mariachis earlier in the spring, but that deal apparently fell through. The 30-year-old infielder will now look to continue his career in a familiar organization, as he previously spent the 2019 season with Miami.

The Marlins outrighted Marrero to Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The utility infielder went unclaimed off waivers and will stick in the Miami organization after accepting his assignment to Triple-A rather than requesting his release. Before being dropped from the Marlins' 40-man roster a few days ago, Marrero appeared in five games, going hitless in five at-bats.

Marrero was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero was removed from the 40-man roster as Neil Walker (finger) was activated off the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Marrero failed to record a hit in five at-bats for the Marlins, and it's unclear whether any teams will claim the 28-year-old off waivers.

Marrero had his contract selected from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero will provide the Marlins with infield depth while Miguel Rojas (hamstring), who was sent to the injured list in a corresponding move, is on the mend. The 28-year-old utility man owns a career .197 average across parts of four big-league seasons.

Marrero elected not to exercise the opt-out clause in his minor-league contract with the Marlins and will report to Triple-A New Orleans, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
A veteran of 158 career regular-season games in the majors, Marrero joined the Marlins on a minor-league deal this winter with the hope of earning an Opening Day role as a utility man. Though he was successful in his bid for the roster, he chose to remain with the organization, likely due in some part to the fact that he grew up in Miami. Given the lack of established talent currently populating the roster, it wouldn't be surprising if Marrero earned a call back to the big leagues once injuries strike the Miami infield.

Marrero signed a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training with the Marlins on Monday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero got into 49 games with Arizona as a utility man last season, hitting a miserable .167/.224/.205. Those numbers weren't far off his career .197/.250/.283 slash line, compiled over 343 plate appearances across parts of four seasons. He can fill in around the infield but his bat is far too weak for him to be a noteworthy real-world or fantasy asset.

The Diamondbacks activated Marrero (oblique) from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday and designated him for assignment, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero appeared in seven minor-league rehab games and proved that he had fully recovered from the left oblique strain that had kept him sidelined since late June, but the Diamondbacks had no need for him on the active roster as a utility man with all of Eduardo Escobar, Ketel Marte and Daniel Descalso capable of playing multiple spots around the infield. It's possible that one of the MLB's other 29 teams may value Marrero's defensive prowess enough to trade for him or put in a waiver claim, but the 27-year-old seems destined for a bench role regardless of where or when he gets his next opportunity in the majors.

Marrero (oblique) started at third base Sunday in a rehab game at Triple-A Reno and went 0-for-5 with a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Marrero played all nine innings in the field for the second consecutive day, an indication that the left oblique strain that forced him to the disabled list June 30 is no longer a concern. It's expected that Marrero will be activated from the DL in the coming days and reprise his utility-infield role with the big club.
