Washington agreed to terms with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball on Wednesday, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Washington will take his talents to the independent league after appearing in three games with the Orioles in 2017. He spent a majority of last season at the Triple-A level, slashing .264/.315/.478 with 18 home runs and 42 RBI over 103 games in Norfolk.

Washington (ankle) was placed on the disabled list Saturday retroactive to Aug. 18, David Hall of The Virginian Pilot reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move to the DL for Washington clears a spot on Norfolk's roster for Joey Rickard, who was recently optioned there from the Orioles. Considering the timing of Washington's injury, it's possible that he won't be back before the end of the minor league season.

Washington cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Washington was designated for assignment Thursday, but he didn't attract any interest on waivers despite the fact that he posted an .841 OPS with the Tides this season. He seems to be locked into an organizational depth role moving forward.

Washington was designated for assignment Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This comes as somewhat of a surprise, as Washington had been batting a solid .282 with 13 home runs and five stolen bases. However, the Orioles wanted to bring fellow infielder Johnny Giavotella up to the big leagues, and Washington ended up being the 40-man roster casualty. The 26-year-old's power could create some intrigue on waivers, although this moves likely relegates him to an organizational depth role moving forward.

Washington was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Washington was hitless in three appearances for the Orioles, and with outfield depth the more pressing need at the moment, the Orioles will send the 26-year-old back to the minors. His power numbers at Triple-A could certainly warrant a callup in the near future, although for the time being, Craig Gentry will take his spot on the MLB roster.

The Orioles selected Washington's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Baltimore made room on the active roster for Washington, a 26-year-old first baseman, by transferring outfielder Anthony Santander (forearm) to the 60-day disabled list and placing Chris Davis (oblique) on the 10-day DL. Washington was batting a respectable .291 with Norfolk, but it's not expected that he'll see an everyday role for the big club, even with Davis likely out for multiple weeks. Instead, Mark Trumbo and Trey Mancini are expected to see most of the reps at first base while Davis is sidelined.

The Orioles are expected to purchase Washington's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Chris Davis (oblique) likely set to hit the 10-day disabled list Wednesday, it appears the Orioles will replace him on the active roster with another lefty-hitting first baseman in Washington, who is batting .291/.344/.517 over 203 at-bats with Norfolk this season. It will be the first big-league call up for the 26-year-old, but it's unlikely he'll directly absorb Davis' everyday role. Instead, look for Washington to function as a backup to Trey Mancini or Mark Trumbo at first base, with Hyun Soo Kim and Joey Rickard likely to take on increased reps in the outfield.
