Hess (1-9) allowed four earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three to take the loss Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Hess held the Blue Jays scoreless through four innings, but ultimately was unable to secure an out in the fifth frame. He began the inning by allowing four consecutive batters to reach base, though two of the three hits were infield singles. After being pulled, Miguel Castro allowed all three of the inherited runners to score, making Hess' line for the night look much worse. Hess now has a 7.20 ERA and 1.55 WHIP across 65 innings for the season. He'll draw his next start Monday at Oakland.

Hess (1-8) allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and one walk across six innings to take the loss Thursday against the Rangers. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Hess needed just 90 pitches to make it through six innings despite the fact that he allowed a steady stream of baserunners. He induced eight ground balls to help mitigate the damage, but he was touched up for a pair of runs in the second and another pair in the fifth, including one that came on an error. This was just Hess' second quality start of the season, and while it was a respectable performance, he's far from a bankable fantasy option in his next start at home against the Blue Jays.

Hess will start Thursday against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Andrew Cashner had his scheduled start pushed back to Saturday due to leg soreness, resulting in Hess getting the ball one day earlier than h was originally scheduled to. The right-hander last started Saturday, so he'll be on his regular amount of rest Thursday. In 12 appearances this season (11 starts), Hess owns a 7.36 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 48:22 K:BB in 55 innings.

Hess (1-7) allowed seven runs on six hits with four strikeouts and three walks across four innings while taking a loss against the Rangers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The loss dropped Hess to 1-7 this season, and each of his last seven decisions have all been defeats. His one win came when he threw 6.1 shutout frames in his first outing of the year on April 1. Since then, Hess has allowed at least four earned runs in seven of 10 appearances. In addition to the poor record, he owns a 7.36 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 55 innings this year. Hess will pitch again at the Astros on Friday.

Hess gave up five runs (four earned) on nine hits and one walk while striking out six through 5.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
After walking 3.6 BB/9 coming into this game, it was nice to see a 6:1 K:BB. The right-hander generated 12 swinging strikes on his fastball and slider, but he just allowed too many baserunners to be effective. He has a 1-6 record with a 6.71 ERA through 10 starts this season. Hess will make his next start Saturday against the Giants.

Hess (1-6) took the loss against the Yankees on Tuesday by allowing nine runs on eight hits across five innings. He struck out five and walked four.
EDGE Analysis
Hess unfortunately faced the Yankees for the fourth time this season and once again struggled with the long ball as he served up three home runs. He's allowed 10 homers to the Yankees this season and has allowed 17 overall. The 25-year-old has a 6.75 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 38:18 K:BB over 45.1 innings this season, but according to Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun, he's expected to remain in the starting rotation for now. Hess lines up for another rough matchup against the Rockies at Coors Field on Sunday.

Hess allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk across six innings to earn a loss against the Yankees in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old hasn't pitched all that poorly this season, but he has an inflated ERA because of the number of homers he's allowed. That was a problem again versus the Yankees, as Hess tossed up four bombs in the first part of the doubleheader. He's yielded 14 homers in his last seven starts, and that's mostly why he's 1-5 with a 5.58 ERA. Hess also has a 1.29 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 40.1 innings this year. He is set to pitch next at the Indians on Sunday.

Hess will start one of Wednesday's games against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hess was slated to take the mound Monday night, but plans changed after the contest was postponed. The Orioles have yet to name a starter for the other half of the doubleheader, though Dan Straily or Josh Rogers would appear to be likely options.

Hess won't make his scheduled start after Monday's game against the Yankees was postponed due to rain.
EDGE Analysis
Hess may have his start pushed to Tuesday, which would mean Tuesday's starter, Andrew Cashner, would start one of Wednesday's games. The Orioles have yet to announce their pitching plans following Monday's postponement.
