Danys Baez has retired from baseball. Baez was released by the Phillies last August after posting a 6.29 ERA over 36 innings. The 34-year-old will hang it up with a 4.25 career ERA and 114 saves over 10 major league seasons between the Indians, Rays, Phillies, Orioles, Braves and Dodgers.

Danys Baez was rocked by Cardinals hitters on Thursday, surrendering six earned runs on four hits and two walks in only one inning of work. After serving up a one-out double, Baez hit a batter, walked a batter, then walked in a run. After a two-run single, Lance Berkman completed the scoring with a three-run homer. Since throwing an unusually high 73 pitches over five scoreless innings on May 25th, Baez has been torched for 11 earned runs on 14 hits in 8 1/3 innings.
