Nava (knee) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with High-A Inland Empire,Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nava has been on the disabled list since mid-April due to left patella tendinitis, allowing Rafael Ortega to form the larger half of a left-field platoon with Craig Gentry (back), who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. Ortega now figures to platoon with Shane Robinson until Nava is available, which could happen by the end of the week.

Nava (knee) has not yet resumed baseball activities, the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
A bout of left patella tendinitis forced Nava to the DL last weekend, and with the 33-year-old still shut down from baseball activities, a return when first eligible appears rather unlikely. Rafael Ortega has been serving on the favorable end of a left-field platoon in Nava's absence.

Nava was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with left patella tendinitis.
EDGE Analysis
It sounds like Nava is capable of hitting, but he will require some time off before he can take part in the running and fielding part of the game. Rafael Ortega was recalled from Triple-A and immediately inserted into the lineup in the two hole. There is no official timetable for Nava's return.

Nava (hand) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rangers, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nava appears to be fine after suffering a laceration to his finger Friday, but with the Angels facing their fourth left-handed starter in five games, Craig Gentry will pick up another start in left field. Look for Nava to be available off the bench.

Nava (hand) will be available Saturday off the bench, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nava sustained a laceration to his finger Friday night, but it's not considered serious and he's able to swing a bat without too much discomfort. As such, he'll be available off the bench as a pinch-hitter for each of the next two games before potentially returning to the outfield Monday in Oakland.

Nava is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nava went 1-for-3 in the season opener, but he'll sit against the left-handed Jon Lester. Craig Gentry will draw the start in his stead, manning the left field duties and batting second.

Nava (knee) returned to game action Saturday as a pinch-hitter, striking out in his only at-bat against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
After a strong spring, Nava may begin the season as the Angels' leadoff hitter. That he was used off the bench Saturday suggests that the knee injury he was shelved with at the end of the week is a minor issue.

Nava will miss his second consecutive game Friday against Dodgers because of a knee injury, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nava said he's unsure if he will be able to participate in the series as a result of the injury, but still plans to be ready when camp breaks. Nava hasn't been fantasy relevant since his breakout season with the Red Sox in 2013, but has come out swinging this spring, notching a 1.357 OPS with 10 RBI in 39 at-bats. Those numbers don't necessarily mean much, but they could be enough to make owners take notice as he opens the season in the larger half of a platoon with Craig Gentry.

Nava, who returned to the lineup Sunday just one day after being hit in the helmet by a pitch, is hitting .471 (16-for-34) with a homer and nine RBI this spring.
EDGE Analysis
With few options to push him for playing time in left field, Nava has gone on a tear this spring to solidify his hold on a large share of the job to begin the season. It's likely that Nava will yield some starts against left-handed pitching to Craig Gentry, but he may emerge to serve as the Angels' leadoff hitter to begin the season.
