Fields signed a minor league contract with Arizona, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old was released by the Dodgers last August after he slashed .250/.324/.375 in 32 at-bats with their Triple-A affiliate during part of last season. Across three levels in the minors during 2016, Fields struggled to a slash line of just .215/.307/.288 in 177 at-bats. He will serve as organizational depth for the Diamondbacks in 2017.

Fields was signed by the Dodgers on Tuesday and assigned to Low-A Great Lakes, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
The former White Sox outfielder has been a free agent since late May after a tough start to his spring in which he slashed a meager .216/.311/.267 at Triple-A Charlotte. In the wake of Carl Crawford being DFA'd, however, it's a potentially shrewd move by the Dodgers to take a flier on a 25-year-old outfielder to add some organizational depth.

Fields was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times' Daryl Van Schouwen reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old outfielder has pretty rough numbers at Triple-A in his career, so it stands to reason that he was not ready to hack it in big league camp. Look for him to provide organizational outfield depth this season.

Fields was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on Thursday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fields was placed on waivers after being DFA'd by the Dodgers on Dec. 30 to clear room on the 40-man roster for Scott Kazmir. He spent the majority of the 2015 season with the Tigers at Triple-A Toledo. He'll likely compete for a depth outfield spot in spring training.

Fields was designated for assignment Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Dodgers signed pitcher Scott Kazmir on Wednesday, prompting the club to designate Fields in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. The 24-year-old outfielder spent most of the 2015 campaign in the Tigers organization, batting .228 with 25 doubles at Triple-A Toledo.

Fields was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers claimed Fields off waivers in early September, but obviously didn't see enough in him to feel he warranted keeping on the 40-man roster. The Dodgers appear willing to take that chance for the time being, however, but Fields' lack general power and speed requires he hit for a high average to be worthy of a 40-man spot. He didn't do so the last couple of seasons, and it will likely be a challenge for him to find his way to the majors unless he can turn things around relatively quickly.

Fields was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, MLive Media Group's James Schmehl reports. Fields was called up as a temporary replacement for Rajai Davis, who will return from the paternity list Friday against the White Sox. Fields went 1-for-3 with a double and a run during his brief stint in the majors, and he owns a .271/.394/.486 slash line for Triple-A Toledo this season. While he has above-average speed and decent power, Fields also has a strikeout rate above 25 percent for the second straight year. If he can improve his contact skills against Triple-A pitching, he might re-emerge on the prospect radar.

Fields is getting called up from Triple-A Toledo on Friday, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports. With Rajai Davis being placed on the paternity list, the Tigers temporarily need an extra outfielder. Fields thus gets his first stint in the major leagues, although it's possible he won't actually get to play. Following a terrible 2014 season with Triple-A Toledo, Fields has been much improved this year, sporting a .271/.394/.486 triple-slash line. The 24-year-old still strikes out a lot (25.9 percent K rate) for a player with modest power.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus indicated Wednesday that he doesn't consider Daniel Fields as an option for left field to start the season. Andy Dirks is expected to miss three months after back surgery, so Fields has been mentioned as a possible platoon option to go along with Rajai Davis in left field. However, it's clear that Ausmus believes he could use more time in the minors. "I don't wanna say he's not a candidate, but he's probably a notch below just because of the development," said Ausmus. Fields was added to the 40-man roster in November after he hit .284/.356/.435 with 10 home runs, 58 RBI, 24 stolen bases in 118 games last year in Double-A.

Tigers purchased the contract of OF Daniel Fields from Double-A Erie. Fields, who turns 23 in January, batted .284/.356/.435 with 10 home runs, 58 RBI, 24 stolen bases in 118 games this season in Double-A. With his speed and ability to play center field, it's no surprise that the Tigers protected him from the Rule 5 Draft.
