The Padres re-signed Camarena on a minor-league contract Monday.
EDGE Analysis
San Diego outrighted the lefty pitcher off its 40-man roster in October, but the Padres were pleased enough with the 29-year-old's work between two levels to keep him around in the organization. He had the opportunity to make his MLB debut in 2021, appearing in six games while giving up 10 earned runs on 16 hits and three walks in 9.1 innings. Camarena will likely join the big club for spring training, but he's expected to open the 2022 campaign with Triple-A El Paso.

Camarena cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Camarena made his big-league debut this season but failed to impress in a small sample of 9.1 innings, allowing 12 runs (10 earned). His most notable moment saw him hit a grand slam off of Max Scherzer.

EDGE Analysis
Camarena threw two innings and took the loss in Wednesday's 16-inning marathon against the Dodgers. He was recalled for his most recent stint with the big-league club Tuesday, and he allowed four earned runs across 3.1 innings in total. Yu Darvish (hip) was activated in the corresponding move.

Camarena (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Dodgers after allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk while managing just one strikeout over two innings.
EDGE Analysis
Camarena entered Wednesday's wild affair in the 15th inning as the eighth reliever the Padres called upon from the bullpen. The 28-year-old surrendered two runs on three base hits but was afforded a second chance after Fernando Tatis tied the game up in the bottom half with a two-run homer. The Dodgers were able to get to him again the following frame, this time off a two-run blast from the bat of AJ Pollock. Camarena has appeared in back-to-back games since being recalled Tuesday and has given up six runs (four earned) on eight hits over 3.1 innings. He's a prime candidate to be demoted given the Padres are likely to want a fresh arm or two following the marathon game.

The Padres recalled Camarena from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty has appeared in three games this season, allowing five runs in 5.2 innings of relief. The Padres face Max Scherzer on Thursday, so perhaps Camarena will be called upon for a pinch hitting appearance in the series finale. Miguel Diaz was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

EDGE Analysis
Camarena spent just over two weeks with the Padres, and he allowed two runs on two hits and no walks while striking out two in three innings during his time in the majors. Right-hander Craig Stammen was reinstated from the paternity list in a corresponding move.

Camarena pitched two innings against Washington on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out two. He also hit a grand slam in his lone plate appearance.
EDGE Analysis
Starter Yu Darvish uncharacteristically struggled and was pulled after three innings due to back/hip tightness, giving Camarena an opportunity to pitch with San Diego down by six runs. The deficit grew to eight after Camarena allowed a two-run homer to Trea Turner in the fourth inning, but the reliever made up for the mistake by clubbing a grand slam off Max Scherzer in the bottom of the frame. According to the Padres' official Twitter account, Camarena became the second pitcher in major-league history -- and the first since 1898 -- to smack a grand slam for his first big-league hit. The big moment probably won't impact Camarena's role in the bullpen or long-term place on the club, but it was the biggest hit in what turned into an epic Padres comeback.

Camarena was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander will rejoin the Padres on Thursday after spending the past couple weeks in the minors. Camarena gave up three runs over 2.2 innings during his lone big-league appearance this season, and he should fill a low-leverage role during his time with the team.

The Padres optioned Camarena to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Camarena was one of five relievers the Padres used to cover nine innings in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Reds. The 28-year-old lefty worked 2.2 frames in his big-league debut, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk. Since Camarena was unlikely to be available for at least a couple of days after tossing 52 pitches Saturday, the Padres decided to swap him off the active roster for a fresh arm in Neil Ramirez, who was called up from El Paso in a corresponding move.

Camarena pitched 2.2 innings in relief against the Reds on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out three. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander was called up Saturday and asked to eat up some innings in what amounted to a bullpen game. Camarena got through the third and fourth frames without damage, but he surrendered three singles in the fifth, and each of those batters eventually came around to score (though two crossed the plate after Camarena's departure). It's unclear how long Camarena will stay up with the big club -- he's worked exclusively as a starter at the Triple-A level this season, posting a 3.00 ERA and 24:11 K:BB across 39 innings.
