The 20-year-old still has a solid .276/.337/.472 on the year, and his defensive profile is still elite in center field, but the flaws in Pache's offensive skill set have come to the fore -- in addition to his issues making contact, he's just 8-for-19 on stolen-base attempts. Given his age and outstanding athleticism, he still has a tremendous ceiling if he can make the necessary adjustments, but his July struggles should give pause to fantasy GMs expecting him to make a splashy big-league debut in 2020.

Atlanta's No. 3 fantasy prospect has formed a potent duo with Drew Waters in the Southern League this season, and while questions remain about how Pache's bat will play at higher levels, his elite defensive profile in center field all but assures him of a starting job once he reaches the majors.

There are still plenty of things he needs to work on, highlighted by a 6:24 BB:K and a mediocre 4-for-7 success rate on steal attempts, but given his age and the level of competition he's facing, those numbers aren't that surprising. If he keeps hitting the ball with authority and demonstrates he can be more than just a slick defender, Atlanta's No. 7 fantasy prospect could put himself on the fast track to the majors.

Pache went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

After going yard in his final at-bat Friday, Pache promptly blasted another homer off Daniel Stumpf in his first plate appearance Saturday. The 20-year-old now has a .421/.476/.895 slash line this spring, with five of his eight hits going for extra bases (two homers, three doubles), and he received a glowing endorsement from none other than Andruw Jones, who knows a thing or two about turning athletic potential into big-league production. "When people ask me why he's not driving the ball or hitting home runs, I say, 'When this kid is coming [in] at 16 years old from the Dominican Republic, and you get a coach who tells him to use his speed and hit the ball on the ground, and you do that for three years straight, it's a tough adjustment to make,'" Jones said Saturday. "Last year, he put some good swings on the ball and hit some home runs. So hopefully we just keep building him." Pache will probably begin the season back at Double-A Mississippi, but a quick start would likely earn him a promotion to Triple-A Gwinnett over the summer, and a major-league debut in 2019 isn't completely out of the question given his already outstanding defense in center field.

Replacing Ender Inciarte in center field midway through the game, Pache took Philly depth bullpen arm Jeremy Bleich deep for his first home run of the spring. The 20-year-old outfielder is still growing into his power -- after failing to go yard in his first two minor-league campaigns, he swatted nine home runs between High-A Florida and Double-A Mississippi in 2018 -- but his Gold Glove-caliber defense remains his calling card as a prospect. If Pache can continue to refine his elite athleticism and turn it into offensive production, however, he could have surprising fantasy value once he reaches the majors.

The Braves promoted Pache from High-A Florida to Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.

Pache went 2-for-2 in his debut for Mississippi later in the day and is slashing .333/.368/.522 since the beginning of July. The 19-year-old was mostly lauded for his elite center-field defense and plus baserunning heading into 2018, but Pache has shown this season that he may have some untapped upside at the plate, too. After failing to hit a home run over his first two seasons as a professional, Pache left the yard eight times in 93 games at Florida and tallied 33 extra-base hits.

The 19-year-old is locked in at the plate right now, putting together an eight-game hitting streak that's seen Pache hit .342 (13-for-38) with two homers, four steals, seven runs and eight RBI. With his power stroke beginning to develop -- his .130 ISO this season is more than double his 2017 mark -- Pache may be on track to develop into an Ender Inciarte-like asset for the Braves, combining Gold Glove-caliber defense in center field with a a solid all-around offensive profile.

Pache has had some struggles in High-A to begin the season -- his 1:19 BB:K through 21 games is rough, and he's 0-for-3 in steal attempts -- but the 19-year-old is still slashing a respectable .291/.299/.419 against older competition, and with Ronald Acuna's promotion to the Show, Pache is arguably the most talented outfield prospect in the Braves' minor-league system.

Pache homered twice off Sean Newcomb in Tuesday's exhibition game between the Braves and a lineup of the team's top prospects, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

EDGE Analysis

The 19-year-old already has a major-league caliber glove -- some scouts rate him as the best defensive center fielder in the organization, ahead of Ender Inciarte and Ronald Acuna -- but after hitting .281/.335/.343 with zero home runs and 32 steals in 119 games for Low-A Rome last season, Pache is hoping to begin developing his power stroke in 2018. Tuesday's performance is obviously encouraging, and even double-digit homers could spell the difference between a big-league career in the starting lineup versus one spent primarily as a bench player. He isn't in Acuna's class as a prospect, but Pache could still become an impact fantasy asset in a few years.
