Wong went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The backstop continued his breakout campaign, hitting safely in his 17th straight game while swiping his fourth bag of the year. Wong is slashing .333/.405/.470 during his hit streak, the longest by a Boston catcher since Victor Martinez put together a 25-game streak in 2009. The only other catcher in Red Sox history with a hitting streak of 17 games or longer is Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk, who reached that number twice between the 1975 and 1976 seasons.

Wong started at catcher and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Wong made his first start since coming off the paternity list Thursday and extended a hit streak to 14 games (18-for-52, .346). Three months into the season and Wong is maintaining a .328 average, nearly 100 points higher than his career average entering 2024 (.232). Red Sox hitting coach Pete Fatse credits Wong being more direct with his swing path which has led to more zone contact, per Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe. The catcher's zone-contact percentage is up from 76.2 last season to 83.2 in 2024. He's also chasing less this season.

The Red Sox reinstated Wong (personal) from the paternity list Thursday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wong missed the maximum three games while on paternity leave and will rejoin the Red Sox ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Padres. Tyler Heineman was optioned to Triple-A Worcester to clear room on the active roster for Wong, who should settle back in as Boston's No. 1 catcher while Reese McGuire serves as the backup.

The Red Sox placed Wong on the paternity leave list Monday, Chris Henrique of Beyond the Monster reports
EDGE Analysis
Wong's placement on the paternity list explains why he's out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Blue Jays. He will likely miss the entirety of the three-game set versus Toronto before rejoining the active roster Friday, when the Red Sox take on the Padres. Wong will put his season-best 13-game hitting streak on hold while he's away from the Red Sox.

Wong is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wong will get a break after he started behind the plate in all three of the Red Sox's games in Cincinnati over the weekend. Reese McGuire will receive the starting nod at catcher in Monday's series opener while Wong puts his 13-game hitting streak on hold, barring an appearance off the bench as a pinch hitter.

Wong went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 loss to Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Wong belted a solo home run in the second inning, his sixth of the season, and extended a hitting streak to 11 games (15-for-39). He's batting .335/.397/.471 for the season. There's no dramatic changes in his contact metrics to explain his breakout, and the BABIP (.395) warning signs are still there, but Wong has managed to avoid regression so far.
