Sadzeck walked one and struck out two over a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the hold in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck has not allowed a run over 9.1 innings since he joined Texas as part of the September callups. He's emerged as a setup man for interim manager Don Wakamatsu, despite Sadzeck's propensity to put men on base. He's walked 10 and hit one batter, including at least one over his last seven outings, producing a 1.61 WHIP. The key has been bearing down with men on base. The right-hander has quickened his pace with runners on while maintaining the power that allows him to throw in the upper 90s, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. "When we talk about development, if you got his times to the plate, they were under 1.1 seconds, and throwing 99 mph," Wakamatsu said. "It takes a long time for guys to understand that we can still stay compact, let the arm catch up and still throw hard with strikes. He's learning that."

Sadzeck will serve as the opener for Friday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck hasn't allowed a run through eight appearances since joining the Rangers at the beginning of September, striking out five batters across 6.1 innings during that stretch. He figures to pitch one or two innings before giving way to long-reliever Ariel Jurado.

Sadzeck worked around a walk to pitch a scoreless eighth inning in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck picked up his fourth hold in seven major-league appearances, allowing only one unearned run. He had pitched the day before, serving as an opener Friday, and his fastball didn't lose any velocity. "He's a power right-handed arm that can go into that situation and record the outs late in the game," Banister told Katie Woo of MLB.com. "That's a pretty special twist to the game right there." It's a promising start for Sadzeck, but one thing jumping out is the walks -- five of them in 5.1 innings.

EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck is expected to toss the customary 1-to-2 frames before Yohander Mendez takes over in relief. Sadzeck has made five appearances for the Rangers this season, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings while punching out two.

Rangers manager Jeff Banister is anxious to see how Sadzeck's fastball plays in the majors, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck, who was an 11th-round draft pick out of Howard College in 2011, brings a fastball that can hit 100-plus mph. Banister is excited to see how the fastball, coming with angle from the 6-foot-7 right-hander, will play against major-league hitters. "There has been some intrigue on my part since I saw him for the first time in the (2015) Arizona Fall League," Banister said. "Wiped out three hitters and every pitch was 98 or above with angle. So, I know in the past whether it has been some injuries or the walks -- I know this year in spring training didn't go as well as he'd like -- but it's still a big arm. Power plays at this level and he's big and creates angles. Guys like that come in and throw strikes, they can be challenging for hitters." The 26-year-old is past being considered a prospect, but he transitioned from starter to reliever last summer and that big fastball, breaking ball combo could play more effectively out of the bullpen.

Sadzeck was called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck will join the Rangers' bullpen to take the place of Cody Gearrin, who was dealt to Oakland on Friday afternoon. Across 38 innings of work with Round Rock this year, Sadzeck has logged a 4.03 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 43:16 K:BB. He will likely be deployed in low-leverage spots during his first taste of the big leagues.

The Rangers will have Sadzeck work as a reliever for Double-A Frisco, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports. "Obviously, he has a great arm," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said of the right-hander. "Sometimes that plays up in a bullpen role. We still feel he has the ability to start long term. Where we are in the calendar, it makes sense to see what our internal options are."
EDGE Analysis
It doesn't sound like the Rangers are permanently closing the door on Sadzeck as a starter, but a 5.11 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 68.2 innings at Frisco don't provide much confidence he'll be able to thrive in that role. As one of the hardest throwers in the Rangers' system, Sadzeck should have a much easier time breaking into the big leagues as a reliever, especially with the Texas bullpen lacking in high-impact arms.

Sadzeck was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck never had much realistic hope of winning a 25-man roster spot to begin the season, and it didn't help matters that he served up two runs on five hits and a walk over four innings in his two Cactus League appearances. Look for him to occupy a spot in the Round Rock rotation for much of 2017.

Sadzeck threw six scoreless innings with three strikeouts, a walk and a hit batter Friday for Double-A Frisco. "He's got plus stuff," Frisco manager Joe Mikulik told the Northwest Arkansas Democrat GSazette. "His fastball is above average and the ability to throw his secondary stuff was really effective."
EDGE Analysis
Sadzeck had a 9.61 ERA at Double-A last year in six starts after a strong season at High-A (3.98 ERA and 48:24 K:BB in 40.2 innings). He could move up to Triple-A with a strong first few months of the season.
