Tucker elected to retire from professional baseball this offseason and attended Angels camp Wednesday to potentially prepare for a transition into coaching, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
A 2014 first-round pick of the Pirates, Tucker reached the majors for the first time in 2019 and had seen big-league action in each of the subsequent five seasons. The 28-year-old utility player struggled to gain much long-term traction in the majors, however, as he never logged more than 160 plate appearances in any of those six seasons while producing a poor .213/.266/.316 slash line in 183 career games across stops with the Pirates, Rockies and Angels. After electing free agency in October, Tucker wouldn't have been in line for anything more than a minor-league contract had he continued his career, so he chose to bring an end to his playing days rather than spending most of the upcoming season at the Triple-A level.

Tucker was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker was designated for assignment Monday and went unclaimed on waivers. He'll remain in the organization and return to Salt Lake, where he maintained a .962 OPS across 40 plate appearances earlier in the campaign.

The Angels designated Tucker for assignment Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker will head to waivers after the Angels reinstated Brandon Drury (hamstring) from the 10-day IL. Tucker saw his playing time steadily decrease over the last month as he struggled at the plate, slashing .180/.263/.300 over 57 plate appearances. Tucker could garner interest via trade or waivers from teams in need of infield depth.

Tucker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker made five consecutive starts at third base from May 5 through 9, but with the Angels having since acquired Luis Guillorme and returned Luis Rengifo from the injured list, Tucker's playing time has become more sparse. He's on the bench for the ninth time in the Angels' last 12 games, with two of his starts during that stretch coming in left field.

Tucker will start at third base and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker will be making his fourth consecutive start Wednesday, with all coming at the hot corner. Luis Rengifo (illness) -- who is on the bench for a fifth straight game -- should eventually take over as the preferred option at third base once healthy, but the Angels could make room for the versatile Tucker elsewhere around the diamond or outfield while he remains productive at the plate. Since his April 29 call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake, Tucker has produced a .770 OPS over 21 plate appearances while stealing three bases in four attempts.

Tucker went 2-for-3 with a a double and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels' offense was stagnant in the contest, but Tucker wasn't at fault -- he was the only player on the team with multiple hits, and he also knocked one of the club's three extra-base hits. The 2014 first-round draft pick added a stolen base in the fifth inning, giving him three thefts in only five games this season. Tucker isn't locked into an everyday role, but he's been productive when given the opportunity, slashing .417/.462/.583 through 13 plate appearances.

Tucker went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base against Philadelphia in a loss Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker got his second straight start at DH and was one of only two Angels with multiple hits in the defeat. The veteran swiped a bag in the fifth inning, becoming the second player in team history to notch a stolen base in both of his first two games with the club. Tucker swiped as many as 47 bases in the minors (in 2017), but he hasn't recorded more than 11 thefts in a professional campaign since 2018.

Tucker went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in a 6-5 victory versus Philadelphia on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker was called up to the big club Monday afternoon and batted seventh while working as the Angels' DH. The 27-year-old made a tangible impact in his team debut, walking and stealing a base in his first plate appearance, then tying the game with a run-scoring single in the sixth inning. It's unclear how often Tucker will be in the lineup since he doesn't have an obvious path to everyday playing time.

The Angels selected Tucker's contract Monday.
EDGE Analysis
After being let go by the Mariners in spring training, Tucker caught on with the Angels on a minor-league contract April 10. The 27-year-old played well with Triple-A Salt Lake, slashing .333/.462/.500 with two doubles, one home run and five RBI while drawing eight walks over 40 plate appearances in the minors. To make room for Tucker, the Angels designated Aaron Hicks for assignment. Tucker will see major-league action immediately, as he's starting at DH and batting seventh against Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sanchez for Monday's contest, per Erica Weston of Bally Sports West.

Tucker signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on April 10.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker was with the Mariners during spring training but exercised an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract after failing to make the Opening Day roster. He's been assigned to the Angels' Arizona Complex League affiliate for now as he knocks some rust off but eventually will provide some utility depth at Triple-A Salt Lake.
