Yankees signed RHP Cole Kimball to a minor league contract. Kimball struggled in 2013 in his first year back from shoulder surgery, posting a 7.31 ERA over 25 appearances in the minors for the Nats. However, if he's healthy he could ultimately help the Yanks in a middle relief role.

Nationals sent RHP Cole Kimball outright to Triple-A Syracuse. The move clears him from the 40-man roster. Kimball missed all of 2012 following shoulder surgery and has made just four appearances this season between rookie ball and Triple-A Syracuse.

He posted a 4.80 ERA over 15 innings of work, but is feeling healthier every day. He'll compete for a role in the Nats bullpen during spring training.

He posted an 1.93 ERA and 11/11 K/BB ratio over 14 innings with the Nationals last season. The 26-year-old right-hander will likely be stationed at Triple-A Syracuse once he returns to full health, though he could potentially reach Washington when rosters expand in September if everything breaks right.
