X-rays on Cole Hamels' right hand came back negative.
Good news. Hamels left Thursday's start after four innings after being hit in the hand by a comebacker off the bat of Adrian Gonzalez, but he's fully expected to make his next scheduled start. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Marlins on July 4.

Cole Hamels left Thursday's game against the Red Sox after four innings with a right hand contusion.
Hamels took a comebacker off his right (non-pitching) hand off the bat of Adrian Gonzalez in the top of the fourth inning. He tossed four scoreless innings before being replaced by David Herndon to begin the fifth inning. The Phillies are sending him for X-rays, so stay tuned for an update.

Cole Hamels yielded two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings as part of a loss in Seattle Sunday.
Hamels' failed in his bid to reach 10 wins and had his five-game win streak snapped. But the good news is that his back was a non-issue as he allowed just two two-out singles through the first five innings. Some fluky hits ended Hamels' day early as Jason Vargas shut down the Phils' offense. Hamels will have a great chance to get that 10th win against the A's next week.

Cole Hamels (back) threw his side session Friday without any issues.
The most telling sign that the Phillies have no worries about Hamels making his next start was that head athletic trainer Scott Sheridan wasn't even present for Hamels' session. The left-hander's back appears to be a non-issue.
