Stanley was suspended 162 games on Friday for his third PED violation, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stanley has now been suspended three times for PED violations; in 2012 for 50 games, in 2015 for 80 games, and now in 2016 for 162 games. At only 27 years old, he still has a shot to turn around his career but its tough to say if he'll ever learn given he's been suspended three times now. The right-handed catcher last played significant time with Triple-A Memphis in 2015 when he compiled a .241/.304/.359 slash line over 92 games.

The Cardinals declined to tender Stanley a contract for 2016.
EDGE Analysis
An 80-game suspension for a positive PED test at the end of the season did away with any chance Stanley had of being tendered. The 26-year-old made his major league debut in 2015, logging 10 plate appearances in nine games, but spent most of the year at Triple-A Memphis compiling a lackluster .241/.304/.359 batting line.

Stanley was suspended 80 games Saturday for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
EDGE Analysis
He will be out until June 2016, but Stanley was never going to be much more than a second or third catcher for the Cardinals with Yadier Molina around.

The Cardinals recalled Stanley from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Stanley was called up to add another catcher to the Cardinals' roster behind Yadier Molina and Tony Cruz. He figures to play sparingly unless the Cardinals decide to give Molina more rest than expected until the regular season comes to a close.

Stanley was optioned to Triple-A Memphis Wednesday, MLB.com reports. Stanley played in three games for the Cardinals with one hit in three plate appearances. Tim Cooney was called up to take Stanley's spot on the roster. Stanley was still the third catcher for the Cardinals, so it is unlikely he will see much playing time in the near future.

Stanley was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday. Stanley will take the roster spot of Adam Wainwright, who was placed on the DL with an Achilles injury in a corresponding move. With Yadier Molina (knee) a little banged up and out of the lineup Sunday, Stanley will serve as the backup to Tony Cruz.

Stanley was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Monday. Stanley stood little chance of cracking the Opening Day roster with both Yadier Molina and Tony Cruz available at his position. However, he could be called up if one of the catchers goes down, but it would take both getting injured for him to make a serious impact.

The Cardinals purchased Stanley's contract from Double-A Springfield on Tuesday. Stanley served a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance in 2012 and endured some growing pain at Springfield in 2013, but he showed enough at the Double-A level in 2014 (.283/.340/.429 with 12 homers) to warrant protection from the Rule 5 draft. He didn't hit lefties well, however, with just a .616 OPS, and is unlikely to see significant playing time with the big club in 2015 barring injury to both Yadier Molina and Tony Cruz.

Cardinals prospect catcher Cody Stanley was suspended 50 games for violating minor league baseball's drug prevention and treatment program. It's not clear what drug he tested positive for. Stanley, 23, batted .264/.317/.425 with 11 homers, 66 RBI and a .742 OPS with Class A Quad Cities last season and has made some real strides behind the plate. Baseball America ranked him as the organization's No. 24 prospect over the winter.
