The Rockies reassigned Montes to minor-league camp Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Montes lost his spot on Colorado's 40-man roster toward the end of last season and was looking to re-earn a place on the team during spring training. However, he will come up short after going 7-for-26 with four RBI in the Cactus League. Montes will presumably begin the season at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he slashed .317/.400/.550 in 2023.

Montes was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Montes has posted strong numbers this season with Triple-A Albuquerque, but he's struggled in a couple of different major-league stints and is now off the 40-man roster in Colorado. Cole Tucker will fill the vacancy.

The Rockies optioned Montes to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Montes heads back to Albuquerque after being recalled July 31. The 26-year-old saw no action and road the bench for the six games he was active for. In a corresponding move, Cole Tucker was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Montes was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old second baseman was recalled the same day Brendan Rodgers (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day injured list, so Montes should be assuming a bench role. He has hit .184 with one home run in 41 MLB plate appearances but slashed .317/.409/.549 in 73 games in the Pacific Coast League.

Montes was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque following Sunday's 14-9 loss to the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Montes will head back to Albuquerque after being called up June 11. Over 18 games with the Rockies, the 26-year-old produced a disappointing .184/.244/.316 slash line with only three extra-base hits while striking out 12 times over 38 at-bats. He'll look to get back into a groove in Triple-A before potentially making a return to Colorado's roster later this season.

Montes went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 7-4 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
After going 2-for-3 with a home run in his debut, Montes went 1-for-21 with 10 strikeouts over his next nine games. He was able to snap out of the slump Friday, but it's too small of a sample to get excited about. He's batting .214 with three RBI and two runs scored over 31 plate appearances while sharing time with Harold Castro at second base.
