Nationals released RHP Christian Garcia.
Garcia shows good stuff when he's managed to stay healthy, but unfortunately that hasn't been often. He was on Triple-A Syracuse's disabled list at the time the Nats cut him loose. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined.

Christian Garcia is entering camp healthy after missing nearly all of last season due to forearm and hamstring injuries.
Garcia has always had ability, which he showed in his brief time with the Nats in 2012, posting a 2.13 ERA and 15/2 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings. He's never been able to stay healthy, but he'll make for an intriguing relief arm for Washington when he's able to toe the rubber.

Christian Garcia (shoulder, forearm) has been shut down from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse.
Garcia has been dealing with shoulder issues and is expected to receive treatment and be rested as a precautionary measure. The Nationals want Garcia to make four or five straight rehab outings without any problems before returning from the disabled list. Garcia has yet to pitch at the major league level this season due to a partial tendon tear in his forearm. He has a 2.57 ERA and eight strikeouts in seven innings over his first five rehab appearances.
