Chris Tillman won't return to the majors this year. Tillman registered a disappointing 5.52 ERA in 13 starts with the Orioles this season and a 5.19 ERA in 15 starts at Triple-A Norfolk. "Let him rest from the season and hopefully (he'll) be ready to come in and compete next year for a spot," O's manager Buck Showalter said. "Overall, thinking about all the factors, it was in his best interest to be done with the season."

Chris Tillman didn't last long Thursday, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks over just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox. Tillman was pretty good last weekend against the Blue Jays, but he's allowed 13 runs - 11 earned - in his two other outings since being recalled. He now has a 5.52 ERA and 1.65 WHIP on the season, and given that Brad Bergesen tossed 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief after Tillman, it's possible the two could switch spots the next time out. If they don't, Tillman will face the A's next week.
