Manager Brad Ausmus wouldn't commit to Stratton making his next turn through the rotation after the right-hander took the loss in his start Tuesday against the Yankees, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. "As of right now, yeah, we haven't even discussed that," Ausmus said, when asked to comment on the Angels' plans for Stratton.
EDGE Analysis
Stratton struck out a season-high six batters Tuesday, but that was about the only positive takeaway on a night he yielded four runs on nine hits -- including two home runs -- and a walk over five frames. He's failed to push past five innings in any of his five starts this season and is sitting on a 7.04 ERA and 2.00 WHIP, numbers that have Ausmus reconsidering Stratton's spot in the rotation. It hasn't helped Stratton's cause that the Angels have found success while using Jaime Barria and Felix Pena as primary pitchers behind one-inning openers in games Sunday and Wednesday, respectively. The rotation will become more crowded this weekend when Tyler Skaggs (ankle) makes his return from the injured list, so it wouldn't be surprise if Stratton is shifted to the bullpen to ease the logjam.

Stratton (0-2) took the loss in Tuesday's 7-5 defeat at the hands of the Yankees, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk over five innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Luke Voit and Mike Ford aren't the usual Yankees sluggers that come to mind, but both of them took Stratton deep Tuesday. The right-hander now carries a woeful 7.04 ERA and 17:14 K:BB through 23 innings, making him a risky play in his next outing Sunday in Kansas City.

Stratton was rocked in a no-decision against the Mariners on Thursday, giving up six earned runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four and walking three as the Angels fell 11-10.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander didn't have it in this contest, as he yielded four of his six runs in the second inning, three of which came on a three-run blast by Ryon Healey, before he was eventually chased from the contest after throwing 97 pitches. Stratton has been hit hard over his first four starts of the season, as he's given up 14 earned runs in 18 innings to leave him with a 7.00 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP.

Stratton allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts and four walks across 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old couldn't quite get the final out in order to put himself in line for the win. Owners would like to see him cut down on the walks, but all things considered though, he looked better Saturday than he did in his first two starts. Stratton is 0-1 with a 5.54 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and seven strikeouts in 13.0 innings this season. His next scheduled start is against the Mariners at home on Thursday.

Stratton allowed two runs on four hits and four walks in four innings during Sunday's 7-2 win over Texas. He struck out one batter and did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Stratton needed 85 pitches to get through four innings and just 47 were for strikes. He served up a two-run shot to Joey Gallo in the second frame but he and the Angels' bullpen blanked Texas the rest of the way. The 28-year-old righty has yielded six runs while walking six and striking out just two batters in 8.1 innings. He'll look for his first win against the Cubs on Saturday.

Stratton (0-1) got the loss against Seattle on Monday, giving up four earned runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings, striking out one and walking two as the Angels fell 6-3.
EDGE Analysis
It was not a banner team debut for the right-hander, who was knocked around by a hot-hitting Mariners club before being chased from the contest after throwing 82 pitches. He should have a rotation spot with Andrew Heaney (elbow) and Nick Tropeano (shoulder) on the injured list, but given the 5.09 ERA he posted for the Giants last season and his rocky start Monday, a return from one of those players seems likely to result in Stratton relinquishing that spot.

Stratton will begin the season as the Angels' fifth starter, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stratton was traded from the Giants to the Angels earlier Tuesday and figured to be a depth option for the rotation, but the team instead sent Jaime Barria to the minors so Stratton could serve as a starter. The 28-year-old started 26 games for the Giants in 2018 and had a 5.09 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 112:54 K:BB over 145 innings. Stratton seems likely to remain in the rotation until Andrew Heaney (elbow) or Nick Tropeano (shoulder) are able to return to action.

The Giants traded Stratton to the Angels on Tuesday in exchange for pitcher Williams Jerez.
EDGE Analysis
Stratton wasn't on track to crack San Francisco's season-opening rotation and had no minor-league options remaining, prompting the Giants to ship him to another club in major need of starting depth. The Angels have seemingly settled on Jaime Barria and Felix Pena as their back-end rotation members to begin the campaign, but with all of Andrew Heaney (elbow), Nick Tropeano (shoulder) and JC Ramirez (elbow) ticketed for the injured list, Stratton could be the next man up if another starter is needed. Expect Stratton to work in long relief initially.

Stratton tossed four innings of one-run ball Monday, giving up two hits and striking out four in a spring win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
This was Stratton's longest and most-effective outing this spring, and his ERA still sits at 5.40, highlighting how poorly he began exhibition play. The 28-year-old is currently competing with several options for a fifth-starter or long-relief role. Despite his sub-par play, Stratton does have the advantage of being out of minor league options, so we wouldn't be surprised if he makes the Opening Day roster even if he is outperformed by Andrew Suarez, Tyler Beede and Ty Blach this spring. That said, he won't hold much fantasy value unless he locks up a rotation spot.

Stratton will start the Giants' Cactus League opener against the Angels on Saturday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander regressed hard in 2018, as his ERA ballooned to a lofty 5.09 mark and he only mustered a 7.0 K/9. However, even following veteran additions to the pitching staff, Stratton has a decent chance to crack the Opening Day roster either as a starter or as a long reliever simply because he is out of minor-league options. Clarity regarding his role for 2019 will likely come as the Giants' roster takes shape over the course of spring training.
