Shaw was promoted to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw spend most of the 2018 campaign with Sacramento, hitting .259/.308/.505 with 24 homers and 65 RBI in 101 games for the River Cats. He opened the 2019 season back at Double-A, where he hit .288/.368/.500 with seven homers and 24 RBI in 45 games before earning a promotion back to Triple-A. Should he continue to succeed at the highest level of the minors, Shaw could get another shot with the big-league club sometime this summer (he struggled in his first taste of the majors last season, hitting .185/.274/.278 in 22 games).

Shaw will open the season at Double-A Richmond, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was assumed when Shaw was optioned in mid-March that Triple-A Sacramento would be his destination, as he spent the bulk of the last two seasons at that level and hadn't played at Double-A since 2017. There's no immediately apparent reason why he'd be demoted one extra level, but this likely doesn't change his timeline for returning to the big leagues, as the Giants could easily call him up straight from Double-A should they decide he's ready to go.

Shaw was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw seemed to be competing for a regular role this spring, but he won't get the chance to make an impression at the big-league level right away. He'll head back to prove himself at the Triple-A level, where he owns a .273/.317/.516 slash line with a worryingly high 32.0 percent strikeout rate over 189 games.

Shaw is not in the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw will sit for the second day in a row with the Dodgers pitching a second lefty in a row, with today's southpaw being Rich Hill. The 24-year-old wound up producing just a .552 OPS in his late-season opportunities and could very well end the season with that same lowly figure. Gregor Blanco will slide over to left field to replace him, allowing Gorkys Hernandez to join the outfield fray Sunday.

Shaw is not in the starting lineup against the Dodgers on Saturday, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw will remain on the bench for a second straight game with another southpaw (Clayton Kershaw) on the bump. Gregor Blanco will start in left field while Gorkys Hernandez gets the nod in center.

Shaw is out of the lineup against the Dodgers on Friday, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw will head to the bench with left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu on the mound for Los Angeles. In his place, the right-handed hitting Austin Slater will man left field and bat seventh.

Shaw is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Padres, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw will take a seat Tuesday as manager Bruce Bochy stacks right-handed hitters against lefty Robbie Erlin. The rookie is hitting .208/.304/.313 through 19 games with the Giants since earning a promotion at the beginning of September. Austin Slater will start in left field and hit second in his place.

Shaw started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw made his fourth consecutive start, and second against a southpaw. The Giants are finally giving their young slugger a consistent look in left field after benching him in nine of the 14 games since his callup Aug. 31. Shaw is still slashing just ,229/.300/.371 over 40 plate appearances in the majors, but his strong power output in the minors (24 homers and .505 slugging percentage) could generate some cheap pop in daily and deep formats.

Shaw went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run Monday in the Giants' 4-2 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
After managing just one hit over his first 22 at-bats in the majors, Shaw has now turned in back-to-back multi-hit outings. Prior to getting called up from Triple-A Sacramento at the beginning of the month, the 24-year-old showed some intriguing pop during his time in the minors, clubbing 24 home runs and 21 doubles across 422 plate appearances. He put some of that power potential on display Monday, but Shaw will need to cut down on strikeouts in order to make a consistent impact for the Giants over the final two weeks.

Shaw started in left field and went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw has struggled since being called up Aug. 31 (.115/.172/.231 in 29 plate appearances), so Sunday's two-hit game was a big step in the right direction. The 24-year-old had been situated on the bench for seven of the last eight contests, but Brandon Belt's (knee) absence allowed the young slugger to return to the lineup with Austin Slater sliding over to cover first base. It is unclear if the Giants -- who have nothing to play for -- will give Shaw an extended look at some point before the season comes to a close.
