Aside from a six-run clunker April 6, the veteran southpaw has yielded just three earned runs across four quality starts. Sale (3-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on eight hits and a walk over six innings against the Guardians. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Sale turned in six strong innings, with his lone blemish coming on a solo homer by Rhys Hoskins in the sixth frame. It was a bounce-back performance for the veteran southpaw, who allowed six runs against the Angels in his previous outing. Through four starts, Sale owns a 3.27 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with a 22:6 K:BB across 22 innings to open the 2026 regular season.

Sale (2-1) took the loss against the Angels on Monday, completing four innings and allowing six runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters.
EDGE Analysis
Sale was staked to an early lead on a first-inning Drake Baldwin solo homer, but he quickly gave that back when Zach Neto led off the bottom of the frame with a solo shot of his own. Neither team scored again until the fourth, when the Angels put up three more runs. Sale was his own worst enemy in that frame, as he walked two batters and hit two others with pitches. The left-hander was allowed to return for the fifth, but he gave up a single followed by a Jo Adell two-run blast before being pulled. Sale did manage to rack up seven punchouts during his time in the game, but his ERA jumped from 0.75 to 3.94 as a result of the flood of runs against him.

Atlanta lists Sale (illness) as its probable starter for Monday's game against the Angels in Anaheim.
EDGE Analysis
Sale fought through a stomach bug during his most recent start this past Wednesday against the Athletics, but it won't be anything that prevents him from making his next turn through the rotation on normal rest. The 2024 NL Cy Young Award winner has breezed through his first two outings of the season, claiming a pair of wins while allowing just one earned run and posting a 9:3 K:BB across 12 innings.

Sale (illness) may not be in attendance for Thursday night's contest against the Diamondbacks, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sale was able to battle through the illness on his way to a victory Wednesday against the A's, but manager Walt Weiss stated Thursday that the southpaw is still pretty sick and may have to watch the team's series opener in Arizona from his hotel room. It's unclear if Sale is in any danger of missing his next expected turn in the rotation Monday on the road against the Angels, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on in the coming days.

Sale (2-0) allowed one run on one hit over six innings Wednesday to record the win as Atlanta downed the A's 5-1. He struck out three without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Shea Langeliers' solo shot in the fourth inning ended up being the only runner to reach base against Sale over 79 pitches (57 strikes). The veteran southpaw has been brilliant to begin the season, delivering two straight quality starts with a 0.75 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB in 12 innings. Sale will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the Angels.

Sale (1-0) picked up the win in Friday's 6-0 shutout of the Royals, giving up three hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw was dominant to kick off the 2026 campaign, firing 54 of 88 pitches for strikes while not allowing an extra-base hit. Sale has yet to make 30 starts in a season for Atlanta, taking the mound 50 total times in his two years with the club, but the results when he's been available have been generally outstanding -- he's delivered a 2.46 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 390:71 K:BB in 303.1 innings. Sale will look to keep rolling at home against the A's next week in his next scheduled start.

Sale allowed one run on five hits over six innings in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. He struck out three without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw built up to 75 pitches (53 strikes) in a sharp performance against a Tampa Bay lineup that lacked most of the team's big names. Sale has a 3.29 ERA and 11:2 K:BB through 13.2 innings this spring, and he looks just about ready for the beginning of the season. While new manager Walt Weiss has yet to announce who Atlanta's Opening Day starter will be, Sale remains the favorite to get the assignment.

EDGE Analysis
Sale was set to hit free agency after the season but will get some extra security with this deal. His fastball was up to 96 mph in his first spring action Sunday as he logged two scoreless innings.
