Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that Chris Robinson has retired from professional baseball. The 29-year-old backstop appeared cracked a Major League roster for the first time in 2013, appearing in eight games with the Padres where he had two hits, including a homer, in 12 at-bats. In nine minor league season he slashed a respectable .276/.320/.355 with 12 homers in 634 games.

Padres recalled C Chris Robinson from Triple-A Tucson. The 29-year-old backstop was hitting .282/.307/.320 with 22 RBI over 68 games at the Triple-A level this season. He'll provide additional depth behind starter Nick Hundley.

Padres acquired C Chris Robinson from the Orioles for a player to be named later. Robinson was batting .241/.268/.278 with 24 strikeouts in 113 plate appearances with Norfolk. The 29-year-old catcher will serve as minor league depth for the Padres.

Rangers signed C Chris Robinson to a minor league contract. Robinson, a third-round pick in 2005, hit .316/.345/.396 in 66 games this past season at Triple-A Iowa. He'll serve as organizational catching depth for Texas.
