Owings (head) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego, Jody Jackson of Fox Sports Arizona reports.
EDGE Analysis
Owings remains on the bench after suffering a head contusion during Thursday's game against San Francisco. There has been no word as to whether he will be available off the bench, but it's expected that manager Torey Lovullo will keep him sidelined for the series opener.

Owings was diagnosed with a head contusion after Thursday's win over the Giants, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Torey Lovullo told reporters after the game that the early signs suggest Owings avoided a concussion. Owings suffered the injury colliding with A.J. Pollock in the outfield and taking a knee to the forehead. If he's held out of the lineup Friday, Jarrod Dyson would likely take his place in right field.

Owings was removed from Thursday's game after colliding with A.J. Pollock in the outfield,Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The two collided on a Joe Panik line drive and Owings took the brunt of the impact, getting a knee to his forehead area. Jarrod Dyson will take over for Owings for the rest of Thursday's game and there should be more information on Owings' exact injury before first pitch Friday.

Owings is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
This is the second consecutive game in which Owings will not start, though he started six in a row before the two-game absence. The utility man holds a .280 batting average on the season, but he collected just three hits in his last six games played. The Diamondbacks will deploy Jarrod Dyson in right field for Wednesday's matchup.

Owings went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the Diamondbacks' 9-1 win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Injuries to Jake Lamb (shoulder) and Steven Souza (pectoral) have pressed Owings into more extensive action than expected through the first two-plus weeks of the season, but with the utility man slashing an impressive .304/.347/.457 over 49 plate appearances, the Arizona offense certainly hasn't suffered for it. He's reached base in all but two of his last 13 games and has been especially productive against same-handed pitching, but Owings isn't without his warts. Owings owns a 34.7 percent strikeout rate -- more than 12 points above his 2017 mark -- and carries a .464 BABIP, suggesting that a steep downturn in his slash line could be in the offing.

Owings started in right field and went 1-for-4 with a strikeout in Monday's 2-1 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
There wasn't much offense to be had in the series opener, but Owings was able to reach base on a single to left center in the seventh inning, extending his hitting streak to nine games. Owings was later picked off first base in what was officially marked in the stat sheet as being caught stealing, but it shouldn't impact the 26-year-old's aggressiveness on the bases going forward. In addition to the impact he provides in stolen bases, Owings showed major growth in the power department last season, making him a respectable fantasy option in mixed formats while he continues to receive at least semi-regular at-bats.

Owings went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored in a 5-2 win over the Cardinals on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Owings has been in a nice little groove to start off the season, with the three-hit game leaving him with a .429/.500/.667 slash line through 21 at-bats. That's obviously not sustainable for a whole year but Owings was providing some sneaky value last season before he went down with an injury, and he's only 26, so it's not all that far-fetched to think he could improve on the .741 OPS he put up in 362 at-bats in 2017.

Owings went 1-for-3 with a double, stolen base and a run in Wednesday's 3-0 victory over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
With the Dodgers bringing three consecutive lefties to the hill, Owings was a fixture in the lineup throughout the series, going 3-for-13 with a home run, three RBI and two runs. Look for manager Torey Lovullo to clear a spot for Owings whenever the Diamondbacks oppose a southpaw, but the utility man also has a clearer path to playing time versus right-handers than he did heading into the season after third baseman Jake Lamb (shoulder) joined outfielder Steven Souza (pectoral) on the disabled list earlier this week.

Owings went 1-for-6 with a three-run home run and a walk Monday in the Diamondbacks' 8-7 win over the Dodgers in 15 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Though Owings struck out a game-high four times, he came through with the biggest moment of the night when he took Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen deep with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the score. With Nick Ahmed thriving as the Diamondbacks' everyday shortstop, Owings doesn't have a clear path to regular at-bats, but he's already picked up two starts in four games thanks to his ability to play right field. Expect Owings to stick in the lineup again Tuesday, when the Dodgers send a lefty (Clayton Kershaw) to the mound for the second straight day.

Owings went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and three runs in Arizona's 9-8 win against the Rockies on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Owings was in the midst of a solid campaign that saw him log 12 home runs and steal 12 bases in 362 at-bats last year before a finger injury landed him on the 60-day disabled list, costing him a substantial chunk of the season. Now healthy, Owings might not light it up in any one category but he does offer a degree of consistency and he seems primed to take on a utility role for the Diamondbacks where he could see action at second base, shortstop and in the outfield. His versatility means he'll have eligibility at multiple positions, while also increasing the likelihood he'll continue to see regular at-bats in Arizona's lineup.
