Owings was not tendered a contract for the 2019 season.
EDGE Analysis
Owings made $3.4 million during this past season and likely could've remained within the organization for a similar price after a widely disappointing campaign, but the Diamondbacks elected to cut the outfielder loose. Across 106 games in 2018, he slashed just .206/.272/.302 with four home runs, 22 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Due to his versatility around the diamond, Owings should be able to find a new home with a club that lacks depth.

Owings will lead off and start in right field Monday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Owings will pick up his third start in five games after going 5-for-7 with a home run, three RBI and two runs over his previous tow appearances. With Arizona officially eliminated from the postseason after losing its series to the Rockies over the weekend, manager Torey Lovullo will likely empty his bench more liberally over the final week of the regular season. That should translate to more playing time for the likes of Owings, who appears poised to finish the year strong after slashing just .195/.262/.281 over 282 plate appearances with the big club prior to his recent surge.

Owings went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Owings got in on a four-run first inning with an RBI single, then later added to the 9-0 blowout with a two-run homer in the sixth. It was the 27-year-old's first start at the big-league level since July, and despite the big day, he's slashing just .204/.269/.300.

The Diamondbacks recalled Owings from Triple-A Reno on Saturday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Owings was listed among a slew of new roster members for the Sept. 1 roster expansion. The 27-year-old carries a lackluster .198/.267/.287 line with three homers and nine stolen bases across 273 major-league appearances this year and will probably top out at one or two starts per week -- probably against left-handed pitchers -- while serving in a utility role. NL-only fantasy players could find some help here if depth is an issue.

Owings was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Owings has been disappointing in a utility role for the Diamondbacks this season, hitting just .198/.267/.287 in 90 games. His positional flexibility gives him multiple avenues back to the roster, but he hasn't done anything to suggest he'll be a significant fantasy asset if and when that happens. Andrew Chafin was reinstated from the paternity list in a corresponding move.

Owings started at third base and finished 1-for-3 with a stolen base in the Diamondbacks' 2-1 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Owings drew the rare start at the hot corner with top option Jake Lamb moving to the bench due to a lefty (Jon Lester) starting for the Cubs. The utility man was able to contribute in the run game and has now notched nine steals in 12 attempts on the season, but that's about the only positive achievement in his profile from a fantasy perspective. Owings is under the Mendoza Line for the campaign and maintains a .547 OPS, his worst mark since breaking into the big leagues in 2013.

Owings went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Thursday in the Diamondbacks' 5-1 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
With Jake Lamb resting in the series finale, Owings stepped in at the hot corner, marking just his third start at the position all season. Owings' playing time anywhere around the diamond or in the outfield has fallen by the wayside over the past few weeks with Lamb, A.J. Pollock and Steven Souza all returning from extended stays on the disabled list. So long as the Diamondbacks' lineup mainstays remain healthy, Owings is unlikely to earn more than a handful of starts per week.

Owings went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Monday's 9-5 loss to the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Owings drew his third consecutive start in the outfield with one of David Peralta, Jarrod Dyson and Jon Jay each getting a breather during that span. The latter three players still appear to be locked into at least strong-side platoon roles in the outfield, so it's difficult to envision Owings settling into a full-time gig. It doesn't help Owings' cause that he has largely failed to turn around his poor season thus far in June, with the 26-year-old managing a lowly .184/.293/.265 batting line for the month.

Owings went 0-for-2 with two runs scored Monday in the Diamondbacks' 9-5 win over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Though Owings is expected to occupy the short end of a platoon with Jarrod Dyson in center field following the recent acquisition of Jon Jay, Owings was surprisingly awarded a start over Dyson on Monday even with a right-hander (Joe Musgrove) on the bump for Pittsburgh. Owings rewarded manager Torey Lovullo's decision to include him in the lineup, as he came around to score both times he reached base and made the defensive highlight of the night, snaring a deep fly off the bat of Jordy Mercer in the sixth inning and then doubling Josh Bell off at first base. Owings is still hitting a weak .193/.267/.301 for the season, so he'll need several more quality games before earning a regular role.

Owings went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI in the Diamondbacks' 8-3 win over the Rockies on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
After moving to the bench for the first two games of the series, Owings entered the lineup Sunday in place of a resting David Peralta and kept the Diamondbacks offense humming. With a .770 OPS to go with two stolen bases over his last 12 games, Owings' production has been on the upswing of late, but it may be too late for him to recapture a full-time role in the outfield after the Diamondbacks acquired Jon Jay from the Royals on Wednesday to give the team a much-needed on-base threat atop the order.
