Yankees designated RHP Chris Leroux for assignment. The 30-year-old was disastrous in Friday's loss to the Rays, allowing five runs on five hits and a pair of walks in his inning of work. It's likely that he'll pass through waivers and return to Triple-A where he'll continue to function as bullpen insurance.

Yankees recalled RHP Chris Leroux from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 30-year-old hurler was off to a terrible start in the minor leagues, registering a 12.79 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and 6/2 K/BB ratio in his first 6 1/3 innings. With Vidal Nuno and David Phelps forced into the rotation though, it's all hands on deck for the Bombers bullpen.

Yankees signed RHP Chris Leroux to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Leroux spent some time Japan after being cut loose by the Pirates just after Opening Day. He didn't fare well overseas, holding a 9.00 ERA with just 14 strikeouts over 22 frames, and his career 5.56 mark over 63 big league appearances suggests he's a longshot to make the team.

According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca, Chris Leroux has signed with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Japan's Central League. Leroux elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Pirates earlier this month. The 29-year-old right-hander owns a 5.56 ERA over 63 relief appearances in the majors.

Pirates designated RHP Chris Leroux for assignment. Leroux gets the boot after allowing three runs and six walks over four innings with the Bucs. The 29-year-old should be able to clear waivers and remain in the organization.

Chris Leroux was pulled after retiring just one of the nine Orioles he faced in his start Sunday. Leroux was charged with eight runs, seven of them earned. He entered with a perfect ERA in seven innings this spring in his attempt to secure a bullpen spot. One bad day shouldn't doom him.

Pirates purchased the contract of RHP Chris Leroux from Triple-A Indianapolis. The Pirates added five players to their major league roster Saturday. Leroux will serve as a longman/sixth starter, while Jeff Locke replaces Erick Bedard in the starting rotation. Justin Wilson, Eric Fryer, and Brock Holt have been all been promoted in related moves.

The Pirates are expected to recall Chris Leroux for Monday's start against the Padres. The Pirates' bullpen is taxed after an extra-innings win over the Cardinals, and Kevin Correia won't be available. Jordy Mercer is being placed on paternity leave, so look for Leroux or Justin Wilson to be recalled. Chad Qualls is due back from the bereavement list and could be added in a corresponding move.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Chris Leroux could be called up to serve as a long man in the bullpen. The Pirates lost some bullpen versatility when they shipped Brad Lincoln to Toronto, and they hope Leroux might be able to fill that role. Leroux was outrighted off the 40-man roster last month, but the Pirates can add him back without making any additional moves, as the roster is currently at 39. He's pitched well for Triple-A Indianapolis this season, posting a 2.78 ERA and 28/9 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings.
