Heston picked up his ninth win of the season Sunday, holding the Phillies to one run on seven hits over 6.2 innings. He walked none and struck out seven. Heston was cruising through six innings when the Phillies strung together three consecutive hits and forced the Giants to go to the bullpen. He only needed 78 pitches to earn his club-leading ninth win. Despite not being a highly touted prospect, Heston has really held his own at the major league level. His 7.17 K/9 and 2.42 BB/9 are solid, and he uses his heavy sinker to induce ground balls (56.3 GB%). Other than a lack of a track record, there are no indications that Heston is getting lucky or that a major regression is on the horizon.

Heston struck out two and walked four while holding the Mets to three hits over 7.1 scoreless innings a no-decison Monday night. Unfortunately for Heston, Jon Niese tossed eight scoreless frames on the other side of the pitching matchup Monday. Heston struggled with his command through the start (13-for-29 first-pitch strikes), but the struggling Mets offense pounded the ball into the ground regularly (12 grounders) and failed to generate much of a threat against him. Heston will start the Giants' final game before the All-Star break Sunday against the Phillies.

Heston (8-5) gave up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six in seven innings Thursday against the Padres. Heston, who pitched a no-hitter at the New York Mets on June 9, won for the third time in four starts. The 27-year-old had command of the strike zone and was able to work both sides of the plate in an impressive showing. Heston will go for win number nine in his next scheduled start Wednesday at Miami.

Heston earned his seventh win of he season Friday against the Dodgers, allowing three runs through 5.2 innings. He struck out one and did not walk a batter. While he was able to limit base runners for the most part, the rookie allowed multiple men to reach base in the second and third innings when he gave up all three of the Dodgers' runs on the night. Heston is now 7-5 on the season and will carry a 3.83 ERA into Thursday's scheduled start against the Padres.

Heston was handed his fifth loss of the season Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and four walks through five innings. He struck out six batters in defeat. The 27-year-old rookie didn't quite match the no-hitter from his previous appearance, but cruised after allowing an early unearned run before getting into trouble in the fifth and sixth innings, when he put men on base and allowed a pair of runs. Heston's record now stands at 6-5 on the season and he will take a 3.76 ERA into Friday's start against the Dodgers.

Heston no-hit the Mets on Tuesday night and was only three hit batsmen away from a perfect game. He struck out 11 and moved to 6-4 with the win. Heston struck out the side looking in the bottom of the ninth inning (and had a bit of help from the home plate umpire) to close out a 110-pitch effort. Heston now has two complete game efforts with at least 10 strikeouts, the other coming May 12th against Houston. He owns a 3.77 ERA and an excellent 3.7 K/BB on the season.

Heston gave up six runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks, with two strikeouts over 5.2 innings, but still earned the win over Colorado in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader. The three home runs allowed by Heston matched his number from his first eight starts combined. Heston has now allowed 11 runs in his last two starts and five or more runs in four of his last six outings, resulting in a 4.33 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 54 frames. As things currently line up, his next start will come Thursday at home against the Braves.

Heston lasted just two innings Sunday, giving up five runs on seven hits while striking out two in the 9-8 win over Cincinnati. Coming off of the best start of his career, Heston imploded in the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark. The wheels came off in the third inning when he allowed the first five Reds to reach base. Heston has now alternated strong and poor outings over his last six starts. If you follow SAT logic, his next start at Coors Field should be a gem. But logic says that owners in standard leagues should steer clear of the rookie in the tough matchup against the Rockies next Saturday.
