Heston (12-11) was horrible on Friday, allowing eight runs on eight hits and a walk across 3.2 innings in a loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Over his last 11 starts, Heston has a 5.92 ERA and 1.70 WHIP and it appears he's hitting a rookie wall. The biggest concern are the walks, as he's walked 46 batters over his last 19 starts. The no-hitter earlier in the season shows Heston's potential, and he might be a sneaky deep pick next year in drafts if he can have a true breakout.

Heston (12-10) didn't pitch well Sunday (5 IP, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K), but did get the win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Heston picked up his first win since July 27 (4.88 ERA over that span), but the overall results were still poor. The league has apparently caught up with him since bursting on the scene as a rookie this year. Despite faltering down the stretch, Heston has a decent shot at making the rotation next year, filling the vacant spot left by Tim Hudson. His final chance to make a bid for a rotation spot will come Friday at home against the Rockies.

Heston took a no decision Tuesday against San Diego as he went 4.1 shutout innings with just two hits allowed but walked five batters. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Heston was lifted at 94 pitches and was effectively wild, as he tossed 44 balls but induced 13 swinging strikes. Heston's control was sharp before the All-Star break, as he owned a 2.4 BB/9 in 111.2 innings and he didn't walk five batters in a single start. Tuesday marks Heston's second such start since the break and he now has more walks (31) in the 57.1 innings since the break than the 111.2 preceding it. Heston has gone at least six innings in only one of his past nine starts as a result of his poor control.

Heston took a no decision Tuesday against Cincinnati as he allowed three runs on three hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Heston's control has been an issue in the second half; he has walked at least four batters in a game five times this season, and all of them have come since June. On the other hand, Heston was nasty Tuesday, as he induced 15 swinging strikes on 91 pitches and his eight strikeouts ranks third out of his 28 starts this year. Heston's ERA is up to 3.61.

Heston (11-10) went 4.2 innings Wednesday, giving up two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five in a 2-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Heston's peripherals have long suggested the 27-year-old rookie is due for a regression, culminating in a surprise demotion to Triple-A Sacramento in late August. Now back in the majors, Heston has dropped decisions in three consecutive outings. Heston delivered excellent value to fantasy owners in the season's first half, but likely profiles as more of a back-end rotation starter going forward. He'll next take the mound Tuesday against the Reds.

Heston (11-9) took the loss on Friday against the Rockies, giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Heston showed improvement in his second start after being briefly sent back down to the minors, he was just out-dueled. Aside from his no-hitter earlier this year, Heston has been a good-but-not-great starter with so-so ERA, WHIP and strikeout totals. Adept at generating grounders, Heston ranks fifth in the league in ground ball/fly ball outs and second in double plays generated - stats that may make him a better real-life pitcher than fantasy pitcher at this point.

Heston will start Friday against the Rockies, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants reportedly considered turning to Tim Hudson after Heston struggled in his first start back from the minors, allowing five runs on nine hits (including two homers) in just 3.2 innings against the Cardinals. However, the decision was ultimately made to give Heston another turn, though he remains a risky roll in fantasy given his struggles in two starts at Coors Field earlier this season (12 earned runs in 11 innings).

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the team will discuss Heston's role on the flight to Los Angeles, CSN's Andrew Baggarly reports.
EDGE Analysis
Heston struggled in Sunday's outing against the Cardinals, giving up five runs over 3.2 innings. With Tim Hudson (shoulder) and Tim Lincecum (forearm) both nearing returns, it won't be surprising if Heston is knocked back out of the rotation.

Heston was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday and will start Sunday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
With Matt Cain (elbow) landing on the DL, Heston will return following a brief demotion to Sacramento. His assignment to Triple-A was primarily for rest purposes, and after a bullpen session Wednesday, Heston said he feels good and that the rest should prove beneficial down the stretch. The 27-year-old has gone 11-7 with a 3.34 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 110:48 K:BB in 145.2 innings with the big club so far this season.

The San Francisco Giants optioned pitcher Chris Heston to Triple-A Fresno on Friday, according to CSN Bay Area. Heston has a 3.34 ERA and 110 strikeouts in 145.2 innings this season, and he is likely to rejoin the big club when rosters expand in September.
