Chris Carter hit two home runs as the Astros bested the Rangers 8-3 on Tuesday.
Carter connected off of Neftali Feliz in the sixth inning before taking Aaron Poreda deep in the eighth. The homers give him four jacks in his last four games, and he's 7-for-20 with six runs scored and seven RBI in his last five. The blasts give him 17 home runs overall. It's about all he does well -- he's batting just .194/.274/.446 for the year -- but in AL-only leagues where pop is hard to come by, Carter is a decent source of power, if nothing else.

Chris Carter hit a grand slam in a losing cause Saturday against the Angels.
It was his second career slam, the other also coming this year. Despite that, Carter has just 35 RBI to go along with his 15 homers this year. His average has been below the Mendoza Line for a month now, and he shows no real sign of taking a step forward. 30-homer power alone isn't enough to make him a decent regular.

Chris Carter went 1-for-5 with a walk-off solo home run in Thursday's 10-inning win over the D'Backs.
Carter picked a good time to get his first hit of the ballgame, blasting his 13th homer of the season off of J.J. Putz to send the Astros home happy. Aside from the power, though, Carter has left a lot to be desired offensively. He's slashing .199/.291/.464 with 69 strikeouts in 223 plate appearances.

Chris Carter hit a pair of solo homers Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks.
Carter's last four hits have all been homers. They've been spread out over nine days, but that's still pretty good. Overall, Carter is hitting .199 with 12 homers and 29 RBI in 191 at-bats. Lifetime, he has 60 homers in 1,029 at-bats, but he still hasn't proven himself to be a quality regular. He has to improve the rest of the way to remain in Houston's plans for 2015.

Chris Carter went 2-for-4 with a home run against the Angels on Tuesday.
Carter and Jon Singleton went back-to-back in the ninth inning to put the game out of reach. The blast was Carter's ninth of the season, giving him 23 RBI. Power aside, he can be left alone outside of AL-only leagues.

Chris Carter homered twice in the Astros' 9-3 thrashing of the Royals on Wednesday afternoon.
It was an important showing from the Houston slugger, who had been in and out of the starting lineup over the past couple weeks due to his poor overall performance at the plate. Carter hit a solo shot in the fifth inning and a three-run shot in the sixth. He is batting just .200 with a .287 on-base percentage for the season but has now tallied eight home runs and 21 RBI in 46 games.

Chris Carter is not in the Astros' lineup Tuesday for the third straight game and the fourth time in the last five games.
Carter is hitting just .192 with a .278 on-base percentage this season. Astros manager Bo Porter wanted him to work on his swing with hitting coach John Mallee before returning to the lineup. "Yeah, it is (hard) when you look at the fact that he can change the game with one swing," Porter said. "He's working on some things with the hitting coach John Mallee and Ralph (Dickenson)."

Chris Carter went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.
Carter singled twice and doubled in the game, scoring two of the Astros' eight runs. The designated hitter has hits in four straight games, a small positive in what's been a largely negative season for Carter. Perhaps he's starting to slowly come around at the plate.

Chris Carter's early season struggles continued Monday's loss to the Tigers, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
With Jonathan Singleton hammering the ball at Triple-A, it's only a matter of time before the Astros pull the plug on the Chris Carter experiment. He's hitter a meager .167/.277/.385 with four homers on the season.

Chris Carter is not in Monday's lineup against the Mariners.
The slumping Carter was 0-for-4 with a strikeout Sunday and is hitting just .123 with 26 strikeouts over 18 games this season, so Astros manager Bo Porter will give him a breather. Matt Dominguez will serve as the DH on Monday while Marwin Gonzalez will play third.
