EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander finished the regular season on the injured list due to back inflammation and wasn't included on Toronto's ALDS roster, but he's now ready to go. Bassitt pitched well as a back-end starter during the regular season with a 3.96 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 166:52 K:BB across 170.1 innings. but he may have a more flexible role for the postseason. Fellow starting pitcher Max Scherzer was also added to the active roster to face Seattle.

Bassitt (back) isn't included on the Blue Jays' ALDS roster.
EDGE Analysis
Bassitt was expected to be available for the ALDS after ending the regular season on the injured list due to back inflammation, but the Jays will instead give the veteran righty additional time to heal. He will be eligible to rejoin Toronto's pitching staff for the ALCS if the team prevails over the Yankees in the ALDS.

Bassitt (back) is expected to be available to pitch during the ALDS, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bassitt landed on the 15-day injured list late in the regular season with lower-back inflammation, but he's made good progress with the injury since then. While it appears likely Bassitt will be included on the Blue Jays' ALDS roster, it's unclear whether the club will use him in the rotation or bullpen.

The Blue Jays placed Bassitt on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Friday, with lower-back inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
Bassitt's injury will prevent him from making another start in the regular season, so he'll finish 2025 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.33 WHIP to go with a 166:52 K:BB through 170.1 innings. However, he'll be eligible to return from the IL for the start of the ALDS if he can come back following a minimum-length stay. Until then, the Blue Jays will recall Mason Fluharty from Triple-A Buffalo to provide additional depth out of the bullpen.

EDGE Analysis
All three runs charged to Bassitt came in the second inning, when the Rays strung together five straight two-out singles. The 36-year-old Bassitt has gone 10 starts without a win (his last victory came on July 23), though he had pitched to a 2.30 ERA in five outings (27.1 innings) prior to Thursday. Overall, the right-hander sports a 3.96 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP and 166:52 K:BB through 170.1 innings this season. Bassit's currently in line to face the Red Sox at home his next time out.

Bassitt didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-1 win over the Orioles, giving up one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out six batters across five innings.
EDGE Analysis
An RBI single from Jackson Holliday in the third inning represented the only blemish on Bassitt's line Friday. However, the 36-year-old will have to settle for a no-decision, as most of the run support supplied by Toronto's offense didn't come until he was taken out of the game. He'll take a 3.90 ERA and 1.30 WHIP -- the lowest that either number has been since July 23 -- into his next start against the Rays next week.

Bassitt (11-8) took the loss against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three batters over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
A second-inning error helped the Yankees score the only two runs they managed against Bassitt. Though the righty hurler didn't allow any extra-base hits, that pair of unearned runs was enough to saddle him with the loss. Bassitt is now winless across his past eight starts, though he's allowed more than three runs only once during that span. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, which is lined up to come against Baltimore next week.

EDGE Analysis
Monday represented Bassitt's first quality start since his Aug. 3 start against the Royals. The veteran right-hander has walked multiple batters in six consecutive outings, though he has fanned at least six in three straight appearances. Bassitt will take a 4.10 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 154:46 K:BB across 156 innings into his next outing, which is slated for this weekend on the road against a Yankees team with an .803 OPS since the beginning of August.

Bassitt did not factor in the decision during Tuesday's loss to Minnesota. He allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Bassitt worked through five shutout frames before yielding a two-run homer to Luke Keaschall in the sixth inning. Bassitt was in line for his first win since July 23 before Toronto's bullpen fumbled the lead. He's struggled with his command lately; Bassitt has walked multiple batters in five straight outings, registering a 27:14 K:BB over 27 frames during that span. In six starts since his last win, he's produced a 5.22 ERA, raising his season mark to 4.14 over 150 innings. Bassitt is lined up to start in Cincinnati next week.

Bassitt (11-7) took the loss Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 10.
EDGE Analysis
Bassitt got off to a rocky start, allowing two runs with two outs in the first inning. The veteran right-hander would settle down and blank Pittsburgh over his final 4.2 frames while matching a season-high with 10 strikeouts. However, Bassitt would ultimately wind up with the loss, as the Blue Jays failed to generate much offensively in a 2-1 defeat. Bassitt has gone five starts without a win while struggling to a 5.68 ERA in that span. Overall, he sports a 4.18 ERA with a 134 WHIP and 142 strikeouts across 144.1 innings this season.
