Chipper Jones is considering skipping the All-Star game to address his right knee issue.
"It's not getting any better and the shot didn't do anything for me," Jones said. "We'll see." While others like Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are healthy enough to play in the All-Star game but just don't want to, Chipper is actually injured, so it would be wise of him to sit this one out. Going ahead with arthroscopic surgery over the break would allow him to miss four fewer games and put him on track to return in early August.

Chipper Jones went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Friday's loss to the Phillies.
Jones acknowledged Friday that he will likely need arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, but he's actually hitting .321 (9-for-28) this month. If the veteran third baseman ultimately opts for surgery, look for Martin Prado (staph infection) to hold down third base for a few weeks.

Chipper Jones told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal that he thinks he'll probably have arthroscopic surgery on his bothersome right knee.
"If I had to guess right now, I'd say I probably will have to get it done," Jones said. It comes as no surprise, as Jones had a cortisone injection that's yet to really help. He would be wise to have the procedure over the All-Star break and miss as little time as possible, but as far as we know, he plans on playing in the game. The good news is that the Braves will get Martin Prado back just after the break, a fact that Jones is fully aware of. The surgery would likely sideline Chipper for 3-4 weeks.

According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Chipper Jones' ailing right knee is "getting more bothersome," and failed "to respond to a second round of cortisone the way it did to the first."
This, according to "a source with knowledge of his condition." Jones did play in the Braves' 6-3 win over the Rockies on Thursday, going 1-for-5 with a strikeout. If Jones' knee looks set to be an issue going forward, you can bet the Braves will ramp up what is likely already an intensive search for a bat.

Chipper Jones said the cortisone injection he received Sunday for his knee hasn't really kicked in yet and he "probably shouldn't have played" Tuesday.
Yet, he's back in the lineup Wednesday and has hit a home run. But, if the injection doesn't provide relief soon, he might need to undergo surgery. "I was really fine within, like, 36 hours, 48 hours [after the first shot]," Jones said. "Last night [Tuesday] it didn't feel good at all. I probably shouldn't have played. I'm glad I did, but it's just hard [to go] side to side, slowing down.. I just didn't feel right [Tuesday]. Not having that first step quickness, you favor it. It's hard to stay on back of it right-handed, swinging the bat. Just one of those things we've got to continue to monitor and deal with."

Chipper Jones (knee) is not in Monday's lineup against the Rockies.
Jones is still feeling some soreness in his right knee after receiving a cortisone shot Sunday. He could be available to pitch-hit Monday, but hopes to return to the starting lineup Tuesday. Brooks Conrad will make the start at third base Monday and bat seventh against right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez.

Chipper Jones will get another cortisone shot in his ailing right knee following Sunday's game.
Chipper originally thought he wasn't allowed to take one until August after being administered a pair in May. But, evidently the dosage in May was low enough that he can go ahead and get one now. Cortisone shots typically require 2-3 days to take effect, but Jones is hoping to be in the lineup Monday night. He's going to need arthroscopic surgery on his knee eventually, but for now, he'll go with the injections for as long as he can.

Chipper Jones returned to the lineup Friday, but his right knee is "still barking" and he has not ruled out arthroscopic surgery.
"I'm going to give it a couple more days, see if the treatment helps, and make a decision after that," Jones said. Chipper would be sidelined for 2-3 weeks if he has the surgery, and he's not allowed to take another cortisone injection until August.

Chipper Jones (knee) is back in Friday's lineup against the Orioles.
Jones sat out Wednesday's game due to continued soreness in his right knee. Though it wouldn't sideline him for more than two or three weeks, arthroscopic surgery could eventually be an option. The 39-year-old third baseman has just three hits in his last 26 at-bats.
