Silseth was removed from Triple-A Salt Lake's rotation after giving up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 5.2 innings in his most recent start June 27, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Silseth won the Angels' No. 5 starter job coming out of spring training, but he made just two turns through the rotation before landing on the 60-day injured list in April with elbow inflammation. Even though he's now considered fully healthy and the Halos' starting pitching depth has only been further tested by injuries as the season has unfolded, the Angels weren't willing to open a rotation spot for Silseth after he struggled across his five-start rehab assignment in the minors. Silseth didn't show much improvement June 27 in his first start since being activated, so he'll now head to the Triple-A bullpen in what's expected to be a temporary move while he looks to improve his control and regain velocity following his recent absence due to the elbow injury. The Angels are still seemingly viewing Silseth as a starter over the long haul, but he doesn't look as though he'll be a realistic option for the big-league rotation anytime soon.

The Angels reinstated Silseth (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Salt Lake.
EDGE Analysis
Silseth has allowed 14 earned runs at Triple-A across just 12.1 innings over three starts since beginning his rehab assignment. Although he seems to have made a full recovery from the elbow injury that forced him onto the IL in April, his poor performance will keep him in the minors for the time being. If the 24-year-old righty is able to right the ship, he may be able to reclaim a spot in Los Angeles' rotation.

Silseth allowed five earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two across 4.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The surface stats aren't positive for Silseth, but he did build up to 92 total pitches. It was originally expected that he would be activated and slot back into the Angels' rotation Wednesday against the Athletics, though Sisleth has now allowed 14 earned runs across 12.1 frames with Salt Lake. Those results could cause Los Angeles to reassess his role in the short term, as he does have minor-league options remaining.

Silseth (elbow) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday against Reno, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Silseth is set for a fifth rehab start and third with Salt Lake. The 24-year-old has been on the injured list since April 8 due right elbow inflammation, but he appears to be closing in on a return to the major-league roster. Through two starts at Triple-A, Silseth has struggled a little, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits and eight walks while striking out seven batters over 7.2 innings. He'll look to put together a more successful outing Friday versus Reno.

Silseth (elbow) struck out four and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Salt Lake.
EDGE Analysis
Making the fourth start of his rehab assignment and his second in a row with Salt Lake, Silseth built up to 78 pitches. Though he threw only 47 strikes, issued three free passes and uncorked one wild pitch, Silseth's outing still represented a step forward from his last rehab start Tuesday, when he walked five over 2.2 innings. According to MLB.com, Angels manager Ron Washington said that Silseth could return from the 60-day injured list to make his next appearance with the big club, though a decision on that front will depend on how the right-hander feels physically coming out of the Triple-A start.

Silseth (elbow) will make a rehab start for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
In the third start of his rehab assignment this past Tuesday, Silseth built up to 71 pitches, but he was blitzed for six earned runs on four hits and five walks while lasting just 2.2 innings for Salt Lake. Though Silseth appears to be fully stretched out for a traditional starting role at this point, the Angels will likely want to see him execute better at Triple-A before bringing him back in the rotation. If Silseth can keep the free passes in check Sunday, he could get the green light to return from the 60-day injured list for next weekend's Freeway Series against the Dodgers.

Silseth (elbow) struck out three and gave up six earned runs on four hits and five walks over 2.2 innings Tuesday in his rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake.
EDGE Analysis
Silseth struck out 10 over seven shutout innings between his first two rehab outings in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, but he struggled with both his control and command Tuesday while shifting his rehab to a higher-level affiliate. The Angels had hoped that he would build up to about five innings in Tuesday's rehab outing, but he fell well short of that benchmark, even though he pushed up his pitch count to 71 (35 strikes) after tossing 56 pitches in his prior outing in the ACL. Though Silseth could be a candidate to return from the 60-day injured list to rejoin the big-league rotation as soon as Sunday in San Francisco, the Angels may prefer to have him make one more start in the minors to iron out his control.

Silseth (elbow) is making a rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday and is expected to pitch about five innings, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Registerreports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander threw 56 pitches over four frames in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League during his second rehab outing last week, and he'll move to the upper minors for his third start. Jose Suarez is making a spot start Tuesday for the Angels, but Silseth could step into that spot in the rotation Sunday in San Francisco with a strong showing with Salt Lake.

Silseth (elbow) struck out seven over four scoreless innings while allowing three hits and no walks in his second rehab start Thursday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
EDGE Analysis
Silseth has now turned in seven scoreless frames over his first two rehab outings in Arizona. Though Silseth has yet to walk a batter in either start, he hasn't exhibited pristine control, as he's uncorked two wild pitches and has hit two batters between those contests. More importantly, however, Silseth hasn't experienced any setbacks with his right elbow and has continued to increase his workload. He built up to 56 pitches Thursday and could reach the 70-pitch mark in his third rehab start, which will likely come Tuesday or Wednesday with a yet-to-be-determined affiliate. After he completes his next rehab start, Silseth could be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list and slot back into the Angels rotation.

Silseth (elbow) threw three scoreless innings Friday, allowing one hit and striking out three batters, in a rehab appearance with the Angels' Arizona Complex League team.
EDGE Analysis
Silseth looked good in the outing and threw 23 of his 39 pitches for strikes. The right-hander has been on the shelf since April 8 but is nearing eligibility to return from the 60-day IL. Silseth will almost certainly need at least one, and likely multiple, additional rehab starts before he's ready to be activated. With struggling Reid Detmers demoted to the minors Saturday, there is a space in the big-league rotation available for Silseth upon his return.
