Burns' start against Atlanta on Saturday has been suspended due to inclement weather, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Burns tossed one perfect inning before the suspension, striking out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
After a rain delay lasting well over an hour, Burns took the mound in the first inning and mowed down Atlanta in order on 18 pitches. That will likely end up being the extent of his outing, as the contest has been suspended. Though the matchup will resume Sunday afternoon, Burns is unlikely to retake the mound.

Burns (0-3) took the loss Monday against the Dodgers, conceding three runs on six hits and one walk over 5.2 innings with 10 strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie right-hander notched his third consecutive double-digit K performance but remains in search of his first win after six starts. Burns generated an astounding 21 whiffs out of his 91 total pitches. After allowing a run in the opening frame, the 22-year-old was steady until the fifth when Shohei Ohtani plated two additional runs on a double. Through 27.1 total innings, Burns sports an ugly 6.26 ERA and 1.54 WHIP; however, he has been unlucky as evidenced by a .400 BABIP against him, as he's pitched to a sterling 3.01 FIP and 45:12 K:BB. Burns currently lines up to make his next start during the MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway against Atlanta this weekend.

Burns (0-2) took the loss Tuesday against Washington, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out 10.
EDGE Analysis
Burns flashed his elite strikeout stuff once again Tuesday, punching out 10 batters for a second straight outing and logging at least seven Ks for the fourth time in five career starts. The 22-year-old has been unpredictable so far, allowing 13 total runs (10 earned) in two of his starts but yielding just six runs in his other three outings combined. Burns has particularly struggled with power, surrendering a home run in four of five starts. He's tentatively scheduled for another tough test, as his next start is slated to come against the Dodgers.

Burns settled for a no-decision after working six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out 10, during Friday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a roller-coaster ride for Burns in the first four starts of his big-league career, but this was the sharpest he's looked so far. The rookie right-hander fanned 10, the first time he's eclipsed the double-digit mark. He did allow another home run, already the third one he's allowed, but the potential for the 22-year-old as a future ace was on full display. Burns enters the All-Star break with 25 strikeouts in just 16 innings as he looks to hold down his rotation spot in the second half.

Burns did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Phillies, allowing a run on two hits and four walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
While Burns couldn't make it out of the fifth inning after throwing 91 pitches, it was certainly an encouraging outing for the rookie right-hander after he allowed seven runs (five earned) while recording just one out in his last start against the Red Sox. The 22-year-old Burns sports an 8.10 ERA with a 1.90 WHIP through his first 10 major-league innings, though he's averaged an impressive 13.5 K/9. Burns is currently lined up for a more favorable home matchup with the Rockies his next time out.

Burns (0-1) took the loss after throwing just 0.1 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on five hits and two walks, during Monday's 13-6 loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Burns had a tough go of things during his second career start. In a bit of reversal from his first outing, in which he struck out five of the first batters he faced, the rookie right-hander got tagged for seven runs in the first inning, and he lasted just 33 pitches and one out before his evening came to a close. With Hunter Greene (groin/back) still on the shelf, the 22-year-old is likely to stick and make at least one more start, but will need to have a short memory with the NL East-leading Phillies looming next.

Burns is slated to make his next start for the Reds on Monday against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
EDGE Analysis
Burns will unsurprisingly stick around in the Cincinnati rotation after he fell short of a quality start but nonetheless impressed in his MLB debut this past Tuesday against the Yankees. The rookie became the first starting pitcher in the expansion era to strike out the first five batters he faced in a debut outing, and he added three more punchouts over five innings while yielding three earned runs on six hits and no walks. The 22-year-old righty will tentatively line up for two starts during the upcoming week, with his second turn expected to come on five days' rest July 6 in Philadelphia.
