Frias (back) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out one, in his first appearance since Aug. 5. Frias appears on track to eventually join the Dodgers' September roster, but he's already had one setback, and a return to a starting role seems unlikely even with the team's ongoing issues at the back of the rotation.

Frias (back) expects to return to the rotation shortly after the All-Star break, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
Frias was placed on the 15-day DL Sunday, but the back soreness that landed him there isn't expected to have long-term consequences. He had experienced this issue during his previous three starts, and with the All-Star break around the corner, it was finally time to deal with it. After a bit of extra rest, he'll make one rehab start before reclaiming his back-end rotation spot.

Frias (back) was placed on the 15-day DL Sunday, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
Frias was originally scheduled to start Monday against the Phillies, but the team will now have to turn to a backup plan. Even though an MRI on his lower back came back negative, his status for that start had rightfully been up in the air. No official replacement has been announced yet, but long relief man Juan Nicasio could be one option.

Frias had an MRI taken on his back that came back negative but he's still considered questionable for his start Monday against the Phillies, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.
Frias threw a bullpen session Saturday and afterwards his status for Monday's start remained questionable. At this point, he should be considered day-to-day and will likely be a game-time decision against the Phillies.

Frias is expected to make his next scheduled start, manager Don Mattingly told MLB.com's Ken Gurnick on Wednesday.
It appears Frias will keep his spot in the rotation and make his next start Monday at home against Philadelphia, barring a change over the next few days. His ERA has ballooned from 3.86 to 4.39 over his last four starts, although a lot of that is attributable to a six earned run outing against the Giants on June 20.

Frias took a no decision Tuesday against the Diamondbacks as he allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings.
Frias's WHIP rose to 1.55 and he now has allowed a
WHIP of 2.00 or higher in in three of his 12 starts. His 5.2 K/9 ensures the hits will keep coming. He was tagged for his sixth home run Tuesday night and his ERA rose to 4.39.

Frias (5-5) didn't give up a run despite allowing 10 baserunners -- seven hits and three walks -- in five innings during Thursday's 4-0 win over the Cubs. He struck out five.
Frias had previously made four winless starts (with an 0-3 record) in June, and yet he put more men on base Thursday than he did in three of those games. He's also failed to complete six innings in any of his last three starts. Frias represents a low-end starting option entering Tuesday's outing in Arizona.

Frias (4-5) took the loss against the Giants on Saturday, surrendering six runs on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings.
He's now posted a pair of clunkers in a row, giving up 10 runs in his last 10.2 innings. Frias started out hot, but has had a rough ride lately, as his terrific velocity has not endowed him with much in the way of bat-missing ability. While his somewhat elevated BABIP points to the possibility of some coming moderation in his stats, Frias isn't going to get very far with the 34:19 K:BB he's posted so far this year. He'll get the Cubs at Wrigley on Thursday.

Frias fell to 4-4 after allowing four runs on five hits over 5.1 innings Monday against Texas.
Frias fell into rare trouble with walks, as he walked three batters for only the second time in nine starts. Frias's 5.3 K/9 ranks among the worst among major league starters; if he isn't showing pristine control, he doesn't have much with which to work out of a jam. Frias' ERA sits at 4.14 even though he has allowed just three home runs on the season.

Frias took a no decision despite allowing just one run in 6.2 innings Tuesday against Arizona. He struck out three and walked one.
Frias has three straight quality starts since a disastrous 10-run outing May 24th against San Diego. Frias induced 11 ground balls against Arizona and continues to succeed by keeping the ball down. His ERA is down to 3.86.
