EDGE Analysis

Correa has been on the shelf with a back issue since June 28 although he continues to make significant progress. He said he felt great following his latest hitting session, so expect the 23-year-old shortstop to embark on a rehab assignment by the end of the week.

Correa took ground balls at shortstop and did some baserunning prior to the Astros' game Sunday against the Rangers, Christian Boutwell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per Jake Kaplan of The Athletic Houston, Correa said that workout went "great," fueling optimism that he'll be able to begin a minor-league rehab assignment during the upcoming week. Correa will travel with the Astros to Seattle and will go through a normal pregame routine Monday before the Astros likely map out his rehab schedule.

Correa (back) is hopeful that he will be able to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment at some point next week after resuming baseball activities last weekend, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Correa was able to aggressively hit off a tee a couple times this week and is set to field ground balls prior to Houston's game against Texas on Saturday. The shortstop added that he's been running and participating in agility drills without any issues and that his back "feels great." He will likely need to compete in multiple games at the minor-league level but this is obviously another step in the right direction.

Correa (back) has begun playing catch and running, but has not been cleared to swing a bat, Austin Laymance of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
For the first time we're learning that Correa suffered a setback over the All-Star break when the injured shortstop felt discomfort swinging a bat. "We're just progressing him slowly," Hinch said. "He's pain free. He's doing better. It's just a slow process to get him back to doing more hitting and fielding." The Astros aren't expecting Correa back in the majors for at least two weeks, a period of time that will include a rehabilitation stint.

Correa (back) played catch and participated in baserunning drills Saturday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Astros are surely encouraged by Correa incorporating baseball activities into his rehab regimen, but manager A.J. Hinch suggested that the star shortstop is still at least a couple weeks away from returning to action. In addition to stepping up the intensity of his running program, Correa will need to ramp up his hitting and fielding in workouts and then complete a minor-league rehab assignment before an activation date will come into focus. Marwin Gonzalez and Alex Bregman will continue to see most of the action at shortstop until Correa is deemed fully healthy.

Manager A.J. Hinch stated Correa (back) won't come off the disabled list until the conclusion of Houston's current road trip, Austin Laymance of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Correa has been sidelined since June 26 due to back soreness, but he's been making strides towards a return as he began a rehab stint during the All-Star break. The Astros' current road trip finishes July 25, so the earliest he could return is July 27 against Texas. More updates on Correa's status should surface as he progresses through his rehab assignment.

Correa (back) has continued to rehab in Houston during the All-Star break but it's uncertain if he'll be available for the Astros' six-game road trip that begins Friday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic Houston reports. "I certainly can't rule him in," manager A.J. Hinch said Sunday, regarding Correa's status for the road trip. "I'm not going to rule him out."
EDGE Analysis
Correa's availability for the three-game sets in Anaheim and Colorado would be based on his completion of a minor-league rehab assignment, which Hinch suggested the shortstop would require before being activated. While it's an encouraging sign that Correa is still incorporating baseball activities into his regimen and hasn't been shut down, he'll need to take another step forward in his recovery before a return from the DL can be considered imminent. Correa has been sidelined since June 25 with lower-back soreness.
