Carrasco (2-1) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Atlanta, allowing six hits and two walks over eight scoreless innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander bounced back in dazzling fashion from a rough performance against the Cardinals in his last start. Carrasco fired 96 pitches (68 strikes) before exiting his second quality start of the season, and while he'll take a 3.30 ERA and 1.00 WHIP into his next outing, the 35-year-old's 23.1 percent strikeout rate is still well off the pace he managed while anchoring the Cleveland staff in his late 20s.

Carrasco is slated to start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader with Atlanta, as David Peterson was announced as the Mets' starting pitcher for the first game of the twin bill.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Buck Showalter previously confirmed Monday that Carrasco and Peterson -- who was called up from Triple-A Syracuse -- would be the Mets' starting pitchers for the twin bill, but the skipper didn't specify in which order the two would take the hill. With Peterson having now been announced as the Game 1 starter, Carrasco will draw a head-to-head matchup with Kyle Wright in the nightcap. Carrasco enters Tuesday with a 4.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 22 innings through his first four starts.

Carrasco (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings as the Mets were downed 10-5 by the Cardinals. He struck out three, hit a batter and threw a wild pitch.
EDGE Analysis
After three strong starts to begin the season, Carrasco stumbled badly in this one. He needed 78 pitches (53 strikes) to record only 11 outs and squandered an early 4-1 lead in the process. The right-hander's ERA jumped from 1.47 to 4.09, but Carrasco's 23:4 K:BB through 22 innings remains impressive.

Carrasco (1-0) allowed two earned runs on four hits and no walks while striking out seven across 7.2 innings to earn the win Thursday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco had a bumpy second inning, during which he allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and ultimately one run to come around to score. He was excellent otherwise, as he retired 18 straight hitters from the third to seventh innings. Carrasco has worked at least five frames while allowing two earned runs or fewer in each of his three starts this season. All told, he's maintained a 1.47 ERA with a 20:2 K:BB across his first 18.1 frames on the campaign.

Carrasco allowed three hits and two walks while striking out eight across five scoreless innings Saturday against Arizona. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco dominated the Diamondbacks throughout his effort, as he limited them to only one extra-base hit. He also generated 17 swinging strikes on only 82 total pitches. Carrasco has looked sharp through two outings this season, recording a 13:2 K:BB across 10.2 frames. He's currently projected to make his next start Thursday against San Francisco.

Carrasco allowed one run on two hits over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday. He struck out five and did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson Cruz greeted Carrasco with a long ball in the first inning, but Carrasco was fantastic after that. He allowed just a single the rest of the way and finished his outing retiring 15 batters in a row. He fed Washington a steady diet of offspeed pitches and looks like a strong fantasy option for next week's scheduled home matchup against the Diamondbacks.

Carrasco says he has full range of motion in his elbow again after offseason surgery to remove a bone spur, and as a result his splitter and slider are both returning to form, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
"It's completely different from last year," Carrasco said Wednesday. The 35-year-old right-hander stumbled to a 6.04 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 21.1 percent strikeout rate over 53.2 innings last season, but as recently as 2020 he was posting a 2.91 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 28.8 percent K-rate. If Carrasco can regain that level of performance, he could prove to be a steal in fantasy drafts this spring.

Carrasco threw 30 pitches over two innings in a simulated game Friday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander may not be ready for Opening Day as he works his way back from elbow surgery in October to remove a bone chip, but Carrasco doesn't appear to be too far behind the rest of the Mets' rotation. "It's really encouraging to see Carlos making progress," manager Buck Showalter said after Carrasco's sim game. The 35-year-old has made only 12 starts in each of the last three years, stumbling to a 6.04 ERA and 1.43 WHIP last season, and given that he hasn't pitched more than 80 innings in a campaign since 2018, Carrasco's workload could be carefully managed in an effort to keep him healthy.

Carrasco said Tuesday that he feels fully healthy and in good shape after undergoing surgery in October to remove a bone fragment in his right elbow, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco noted that his improved health has been apparent in his initial bullpen sessions at spring training; his fastball reached 92 miles per hour during Tuesday's session, whereas the right-hander said his velocity typically sits at around 86-to-88 mph at this stage of camp. The 34-year-old first season in Flushing was delayed until late July after he dealt with a significant hamstring injury, and he never seemed to look right over the course of 12 starts, posting a 6.04 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. A healthy spring training coupled with his past track record of excellence could be enough to make Carrasco an intriguing flier in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Carrasco underwent surgery Tuesday to remove a bone fragment from his right elbow.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco missed the first half of the 2021 campaign with a hamstring injury and recorded a 6.04 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 53.2 innings across 12 starts. Although he'll require some time to recover following his elbow procedure, he's expected to resume baseball activities this winter. As a result, it seems likely that the right-hander will be ready for spring training in 2022.
