Quantrill will be placed on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right shoulder inflammation, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill's shoulder injury could help explain his recent struggles, as he allowed eight runs through 4.1 innings during his last start Tuesday. He received an injection Thursday and will be shut down for a few days before beginning a throwing program. Quantrill's move to the IL will make room for Aaron Civale (oblique) to return Friday.

Quantrill (2-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing eight runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Orioles. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
After posting three consecutive quality starts to start the month, Quantrill has now allowed 17 runs over his last three starts (14 innings). The 28-year-old right-hander's ERA is up to 5.61 with a 1.42 WHIP and 34:20 K:BB across 59.1 innings this season. With Triston McKenzie (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (oblique) nearing returns and rookies Tanner Bibee and Logan Allen both pitching at a high level, Quantrill's spot in the Guardians' rotation may be in jeopardy.

Quantrill (2-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks over 4 innings against the White Sox. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill was solid through his first three innings, holding Chicago to just one run on one hit. However, he unraveled in the fourth, allowing the first three baserunners to reach, eventually surrendering five more runs. Quantrill's ERA is up to 4.75 with a 1.35 WHIP and 31:18 K:BB. He's a risky fantasy option heading into his next start, tentatively lined up for next week in Baltimore.

Quantrill allowed three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings during Friday's loss to the Mets. He stuck out six and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill rolled through four shutout frames before allowing two runs in the fifth inning, including Francisco Alvarez's solo shot. Brett Baty then drilled a solo homer in the sixth. Quantrill failed to complete six innings for the first time since April 24 and gave up multiple home runs for the first time in 2023. He's now sporting a 4.06 ERA across 51 frames. Quantrill is projected for a home matchup against the White Sox next week.

Quantrill did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over six innings against the Angels. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill came back to earth after throwing seven innings of one-hit baseball in his last start, giving up three runs and earning yet another quality start. The Angels got to Quantrill early, with Mickey Moniak slugging a solo homer to lead off the first inning before a two-run, one-hit, two-walk third frame brought the advantage to 3-0 in favor of LAA. Though Quantrill is known for his ability to limit damage and generate ground balls, his 1.53 K/BB rate this season makes it difficult for the 28-year-old to climb the fantasy ranks. Quantrill is in line for a meeting with the Mets next week, who strike out the third-fewest times per game in MLB (7.53).

Quantrill (2-2) earned the win Sunday, tossing seven scoreless innings in which he allowed one hit and three walks during a 2-0 victory over the Twins. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill took a no-hit bid into the seventh but surrendered a two-out single to Alex Kirilloff. The right-hander has completed at least seven innings in back-to-back starts and notched his second scoreless outing of the season, lowering his ERA from 4.73 to 3.89. Quantrill has a few bumpy appearances so far and isn't striking many batters out (21:12 K:BB through 39.1 innings), but he appears to be on the right track recently and will look to make it three straight quality starts next time out, which is tentatively scheduled for a three-game weekend set versus the Angles.

Quantrill did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over 7.1 innings in a 3-2 win over the Yankees. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill surrendered a solo home run to Jose Trevino and an RBI single to DJ LeMahieu in the third, but other than that, the right-hander was sharp through a season-high 7.1 innings. It was a strong bounce-back performance for Quantrill, who was coming off his worst outing of the season (five earned runs over 3.1 innings versus Colorado). Despite the quality start Monday, he's still struggling with the long ball (four homers allowed over six starts) and isn't striking many batters out (17:9 K:BB through 32.1 innings).

Quantrill (1-2) took the loss Monday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.1 innings as the Guardians fell 6-0 to the Rockies. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
A Jurickson Profar solo shot in the first inning set the tone for the evening, and Quantrill got chased in the fourth after giving up four singles and two walks to the first seven hitters he faced in the frame. It's not clear if the leg bruise he suffered in his prior start after a line drive comebacker had any impact on his poor performance, but the right-hander will take a 5.40 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB through 25 innings into his next outing, likely to come this weekend in Boston.

Quantrill (leg) is listed as the Guardians' probable starting pitcher for Monday's game against the Rockies at Progressive Field.
EDGE Analysis
Quantrill was lifted after tossing a season-low 83 pitches in his last outing Wednesday against the Tigers when he was struck on the leg by a line drive while recording the final out of the bottom of the sixth inning, but his early exit looks to have been mostly precautionary. While the Guardians haven't formally confirmed that the right-hander completed a between-starts bullpen session without issue, Quantrill's inclusion on the pitching schedule for the series with the Rockies suggests he's good to go. He'll tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his second turn expected to come next Sunday in Boston.

Quantrill moved to 1-1 after striking out four over six scoreless innings in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Tigers, but he exited the game after being hit in the leg by a line drive, the Associated Press reports. He scattered four hits and one walk in the 83-pitch outing.
EDGE Analysis
With two outs and runners on first and third base in the bottom of the sixth, Tigers right fielder Kerry Carpenter sent a line drive back up the middle right at Quantrill, but the pitcher was able to field the ball off his leg and throw to first to record the final out of the inning. Quantrill's knee appeared to buckle when he attempted to stand up after making the play, but he was ultimately able to walk off the field under his own power. However, given that Quantrill had thrown no fewer than 89 pitches in any of his prior three starts and was working on a shutout, the Guardians evidently had some level of concern about his injury. Until Cleveland provides another update on his condition, Quantrill should be considered day-to-day ahead of his next scheduled start, which will likely fall next week versus the Rockies at Progressive Field.
